Word has it the next-generation Ford F-150 pickup truck will go into production with an aluminum body, a decision that will help the half-ton truck undergo a severe but successful diet.

According to The Truth About Cars, quoting “a supplier source”, development of the aluminum F-150 “is going just fine”, despite company worries that led to the construction of an all-steel body-in-white alongside the aluminum truck.

Design-wise, the next-generation F-150 will borrow several styling cues from the Ford Atlas Concept, TTAC claims, adding that powertrains will include the 5.0-liter V8, the 3.5-liter EcoBoost, the naturally-aspirated 3.5-liter V6 and an new 2.7-liter V6 EcoBoost.

As far as the Raptor version is concerned, the high-performance pickup truck will be back for the 2016 model year.

They make good money on the raptor.

Assuming they make $5000 per Raptor..... 20,000 trucks a year is $100 million profit not to mention most dealers get a lot more over invoice.
I think they probably do OK

When I worked there Ford made 33% ROS on all F series, large SUV's.
I worked in powertrain engineering on the Escape and we struggled to make 3% ROS... I can tell ya that trucks and SUV's are the only reason all the auto manufactures are in business.

I heard it will be a combination of Steel and Aluminum. All Aluminum would be too expensive and steel is needed in the frame and certain parts of the body, because it's strength.

Just a thought, but does anyone know if the Raptor program is actually making a profit for Ford? Factoring in all the costs that go along with development and production. Most cars that are high performance versions of a standard production vehicle actually end up as an overall loss from a financial point of view.
