Update. Dealer replaced tranny lead frame and says it's throwing a bunch of shift range sensor codes

Seapong, I had a similar issue. Have the tech check the wiring harness that goes from the PCM to transmission to make sure that it is not touching the passenger side manifold. Mine fell off its retainer clip and it was touching the manifold intermittently causing the speedo needle to jump from 0 to 60 while in Park and while driving the needle would jump as well and cause the tranny to shift all over and sometimes it would get stuck on 1st or 2nd!!

I have hard shift clunk to reverse. Only 2179 miles on 14 screw. Should I have the dealer check this out?

Good info aalonso!! That sounds pretty close to what I experienced. Any idea if tranny going out of whack caused any kind of mechanical damage? What worries me is the damp bell housing and clunking noises after the incident.

Definitely bring it to their attention. At least it's documented if they say no repair needed and later on if it fails, warranty can't really deny you.

No damage. He dropped the pan and the fluid was clear with no metal particles. My tech mentioned that the 6R80 transmissions are built to last and are not easily damaged. I got a new filter and fluid as well..

update:

just picked her up this morning from Kelley Ford in Hanford, CA. tech notes say that OSS (output shaft speed) sensor that is built into the molded lead frame in the transmission was shorted, the transfer case range shift fork was completely damaged and the planetary gears showed signs of overheating. Thus the exact symptoms were stuck in 2WD-LO and faulty speedo reading...

how are all these things possible at 1700mi?

I'm trying to think of a way that one could possible lead to the other, my one though is that the shorted sensor caused the power train control module to go nuts and destroy the transfer case. Either that you you drew a very short straw on the assembly line! If you have more issues it may be lemon time.
