2014 Shelby Raptor

I purchased a 2014 Shelby Raptor, #109 of 500 a few months ago in pristine condition. The truck has 95k on it and was driven all highway miles by the VP of a large construction company. It is rust free and never driven in the snow or ice. It really looks near new.

I love the truck, but feel like it is just too much truck to daily drive for me.

I am curious on what opinions would be on maybe trading the Shelby for the same year and similar mileage Raptor just without the Shelby package with the cash added from the other truck?

How much cash would be reasonable plus a truck in trade?

The Shelby has new brakes with drilled and slotted rotors, rebuilt shocks, new tires, new plugs, wires, and coil packs and overall in excellent condition.

If you are trading it in at a dealer, there may be $5-10k difference at your end maximum, but the dealer will also probably try to get you on fees,,etc. Might be better off to sell private for more cash and then buy private as well.

Thanks for the reply. Not considering a dealer trade. Thinking about advertising with the intent to trade to a private party with the less equipped stock raptor owner bringing cash to the table.

I'm in no hurry to sell and I could wait for the right deal.

Besides year and mileage of the hypothetical other Raptor, the condition and mods of that other Raptor also come into play. It sounds like your assume everything equal except the Shelby upgrades and badging. I wouldn't think it would really put too much extra value on it personally, but it's really highly subjective.

The reality is that you aren't going to find another Raptor that matches yours except for Shelby add ons And if you did, I don't know that anyone is going to want to do an even swap of the truck they know is reliable that may not be...much less give you cash for it. A dealership certainly isn't.

I would ask though, if your truck is too much for a DD for you, why would you trade it in for another Raptor? Or is that not your plan and you're really just asking how much Shelby add on is worth over stock?

I love the comfort and ride of the truck. My wife really likes it as well. It cruises super nice on the freeway when we drive 3-4 hours to visit relatives and it makes driving more enjoyable. So, this reason alone is why I am considering a less expensive raptor. The supercharger is nice, but not necessary for my driving style

Another concern is premium fuel that is required for the truck. I can get regular unleaded paid for by the company I work for, but premium fuel is 100% on me I can't even get a credit towards the premium. Its either get the regular as part of the vehicle allowance package or fork out the money for premium myself. This can be quite costly if you fill up a couple time a week.

My other concern is mileage. I feel like the Shelby is a more unique/specialty vehicle and if I continue to rack up miles on it to the tune of 20k per year it will devalue considerably. Maybe I am over thinking this aspect.

It will go another 200k miles so I wouldn't be overly concerned about mileage. That motor is a beast. If I recall, Ford recommended premium fuel for all the Raptors and not just the Shelby. It will run on 87 just fine you just might lose a few Hp's. Like others have mentioned, you might be very hard pressed to find another one to swap. Maybe you simply need a Prius as a daily.

I see the value in the supercharger, not necessary the Shelby nameplate. It's still a truck with higher miles. If it had under 20k miles on it, then I'd say the value is in the overall package for someone that wants it. It'll probably be easier for you to sell it privately and find another Raptor to buy. A dealer will look at wholesale prices and give you a little more since it's a supercharged Shelby.

I went from a stock 13 to a supercharged 12 to a stock 13. The supercharger is a lot of fun and is tame when you drive it nice, but it'll always make you smile when you step on it. MPG goes down with the supercharger and you need premium fuel. It's not a lot at the pump, but adds up over time.

Just drive it! You will get used to the power I short time. I don’t think the Shelby is a collector so just put the miles on it!

If you can, keep it and go buy an AWD Fusion to daily. :head3:

Or if it has to be another truck then an older Ranger, decent Tacoma, etc.. That way, you keep that Shelby tucked away and the miles off of it since it is so clean and you have the 20-30 MPG commuter on company fuel paid fuel anyways!
