Nice truck, of course the grass is always greener.
Yes, you need to run premium fuel in it. The supercharger increases your effective compression, the tune is set up for it. Saving a few cents in fuel isn't worth pinging the pistons out of the engine.
If you can afford the Shelby in the first place the price difference of premium fuel shouldn't be that much of a hardship. All raptors require additional maintenance over a plane ol' pickup. Your mileage won't be much different than a stock truck if your staying out of boost, general wear and tear will be the same. The annual cost difference for premium for 20,000 miles a year is under $600, how long will it take to recover that when you loose your ass in a trade? Then you will want to do all the maintenance to the "new" truck that you have already done. Financially it makes no sense. If you are scared of the truck that's a little different. The way gen 1 raptors go you will hold value pretty well even if you put a lot of miles on it. The ultra low mileage collectability is already gone from it, now it's just a truck that is uniquely yours.
It's a nice truck, nice thing to be in, I'm sure it catches eyeballs. There is nothing wrong with enjoying that, enjoying the boost. Take it out on an organized trail run, see what they are all about, see how a Raptor works in its intended environment, and allow yourself to bond with it. You will have a group to help you if something goes wrong, you won't be able to get lost and you will have fun.
