Thanks for the comments and advice guys...they did offer me a rental, but I have a company truck I can use in the meantime.

jolsen - hopefully they can diagnose my problem quickly!Sounds like a simple fix once they figure it out. Thanks for letting me know of your experience.

Once I hear back today, I'll let you guys know what they say.

BDRAG - Ya, I'm really not sweatin it too much yet. I waiting a long time to get this truck and am just still excited to drive it. I went from Chev to Toyota to Ford......took me a while but I think I am on the right path now!

Just remember it is a mass produced machine (vehicle) and their are always a chance that machine can have a hickup or breakdown. Its a matter of how its handed from the manufacture to get it fixed.

The amount of electrical communications that are going on within the transmissions now will boggle your mind. A simple sensor or solenoid giving biased information to the control modules can cause concerns that seem like the transmission is going to fall out of the bottom of the truck.

Just to be safe and i have had vehicle bought back over the years from both MB and Ford do the research in your state and write a letter similar to this one. Much better to be safe than sorry plus it will put the manufacturer on notice that they only have 3 attempts to fix the vehicle. This may help them to decide on replacing the whole assy rather than a piece part in the truck or may help them to decide to offer you a extended warranty.

One of my letters--I am in Texas so it is specific:

Robert Hulsey
Payton Wright Ford
701 E. Highway 114
Grapevine, Texas 76051

Attention: Robert Hulsey

Subject: 2005 F250 VIN #1FTSW21P65EA11254

Reference: Repair of Subject Vehicle Delivered to Your Facility for Repair on 01/31/05

Dear Robert,

In accordance with TEXAS MOTOR VEHICLE COMMISSION CODE (ARTICLE 4413(36) VERNON’S TEXAS CIVIL LEMON LAW STATUTES) Section 6.07 Warranty Performance Obligations you are hereby formally notified of the following known defects of the subject vehicle:
• The “A” Pillar on the drivers side has apparently buckled causing the drivers side entry handle to bend as well as the dashboard plastic cover to bend as well.
• The vehicle also makes a specific noise at low speeds when the accelerator is depressed halfway or more and immediately let off. The noise sounds like something grinding in the front end.

If you have any questions regarding the above please contact the undersigned at 000-000-0000 (Office) 817-000-000(Home)

Regards,

Good News Guys!

Well, I just got back from picking up my truck and all is right in the world again. I have quoted my service managers findings for you.

"I just wanted to touch base with you on your Raptor. We have spent some time on your unit and have narrowed in down to the transmission control harness. It runs from the PCM on the right hand side of the firewall down along the right hand side valve cover and plugs in on the rear of the transmission. Upon inspection we found that the harness was unclipped from its mounting tab allowing it to rest on the exhaust manifold. When testing the harness we are getting readings of high resistance indicating that its most likely damaged the harness. The normal process would be to order and replace the harness but its almost 2 weeks away. I am currently removing a harness from a brand new stock unit to install into your truck. We should be able to road test by early afternoon to evaluate if there are any further issue."

How cool is that? They actually pulled the part from another Raptor on the lot! Now that is great service! Makes me very happy that I chose Ford for my truck!

And thanks to you guys again. I feel bad that I didn't post until I was in trouble. I have been following this forum since February. I'll try to chime in a little more often.

Why is it that almost every part needed to be ordered for our trucks is 2-4 weeks away?

Sorry for the off-topic post, but I went to the dealership today to pick up my brand new Raptor, and guess what? The damn thing wouldn't even crank. Turns out, the transmission wiring harness is FREAKING GONE! Now I have to wait 2-4 weeks for them to get this part from China so I can drive it off the lot. This totally blows!
