Well Dr. Pain......here is the next chapter. Following is the service managers reply to my second request to examine the transmission and flush the fluid

"Sorry for the delay in responding its been a little crazy in the shop as you can imagine. I understand your concern with what may or may not happen in the future with your truck. Let me reassure you that the repair that was performed on your truck is complete and nothing further is required. Due to the nature of the concern with your vehicle I feel there isn't any other issue nor do I feel it will lead to problems in the future. Based on the codes we saw and the pinpoint test we perfomred its clear that the transmission was down shifting prematurely, most likely taking up the normal driveline slack, this is what you would have felt and heard. If we had found codes or had results that indicated slipping, flaring or multiple gear application at the same time we would have had cause to pull the pan and inspect. This simply wasn't the case. Im very confident that your transmission is fine. If you feel something develops in the future than let me know and we can address it at that point."

I still love this truck, but if there is one little hiccup in my trans going forward......

Boss? just calm down.....everythings going to be OK! Thanks for your support guys.

Although I try to give the "benefit of the doubt" when it comes to most things....when it comes to dealerships....I DON"T! They just don't have the history which would indicate they are anything but "sneaky" and perhaps...a bit dishonest.
All the service manager had to do was spend a couple hundred dollars in parts/labor, drop your tran-pan to give you a "warm fuzzy"....and he would have just made a "customer for life" in all likelihood. Instead...he spends time trying to come up with the best verbiage to get you off his back and move on. Too bad... I would have to agree with "Boss" in this case, and I would also write a brief letter to Ford explaining the entire "soap opera", and what you expected from the dealership....and Ford, for that matter. It is true, the capabilities of vehicle diagnostics have come a long way (although he doesn't have a tool which registered the "banging" you experienced during the initial malfunction), but he forgets the basic rule...."the customer comes first...". Good luck...

Documentation, documentation, documentation..... I too would have a nice write up to Ford with a Cc to the dealership. They may try putting all the "verbiage" together they want, that won't help you if you are beyond the 5 years or 100k, and see the developing fruits of the premature wear (which can be traced back to this event). The dropping of the pan and INDEPENDENT analysis of the oil content (for metal "stuff") would set your mind at ease and would release the liability of a slow developing issue (or at least decrease it).

How is this going to affect the truck's performance over time?
How is this going to affect the resale value of the truck, considering that it is now permanently on the OASIS records?

Their fault should not be your liability. I would ask for a refresh and INDEPENDENT analysis, at a minimum OR tell them you want a new transmission LOL!

As far as the dealership, if they are concerned about a couple of hundred dollars on a repair, then they should be equally concerned about time wasted in english comp of those well worded replies. How are they going to feel about you bringing your truck in for every hiccups you feel or hear with the truck (and its associated wasted time and resources)?

Hopefully your truck is well but now I have just about the same mileage an I got one hell of a weird problem with mine. I didn't feel like starting a new thread. But anyways, did the mid perch mod tonight, was standing there in the shop smoking a victory cigar with my buddy that helped me do the mod, all the sudden it sounds like the truck is hissing and bubbling a little bit like a water bong or something. The A.C. condenser is pissing out green dye shit out of the lower A.C. line connection. I'm pissed. Glad it's not hot anymore or I'd be super pissed.
