Sean had the connections.. When the car he was going to use fell through. He posted on Facebook looking for ideas for another car. Half joking I responded and said he could use my Raptor. A couple text messages and phone calls later, it was decided we would enter the Raptor.
Andy Duncan had a lot of questions and concerns. So after several emails selling him on the idea, he was all for it.. As you can tell we went through several different approaches. Everything from supercharger, 20" wheels and z rated tires to 110 gallon fuel tank, to camper shell.. Finally, decided why change the reliable, comfortable, and add more points of failure. Keep it simple stupid.. The Raptor is a fantastic chase vehicle, so I made the decision to approach the bullrun that way.
Let's face it.. The Raptor is a 6200lb barn door, and trying to keep up with these supercars, would be pushing it beyond what it was designed for. So, I am loading it up, just like I would if we were going to a off road Raptor event. If anything we will be able to fix/repair on the road, and help the other bullrunners. I have talked to several other bullrun participants and they ALL agree with this laid back approach. We will avoid pull overs, lower mpg, and break downs. Still be able to place in the top 10..
I don't know how Sean feels about only a top 10 finish instead going for first..
