Yea. Its odd because my truck just turned 70k miles. Certainly not high mileage.

If its normal I might just switch to 5w30, but if not, I still have a full warrantee so I may take it in.

I Switched to 5W-30 and it did help with the three second tapping at startup.
Plus gained .05 mpg. to boot.
I recommend using
They do have a high milage version of the extended performance oil if you want to use that.

And either Ford performance oil filter or Mobil 1 extended performance oil filter.

Have you seen this alot on the 6.2's over the years?

I actually still have a really good warranty left so if it is an issue I'd take it to Ford. Only happens in colder temps. (below 40 ish)

Not really. Sounds like a lash adjuster or timing drive issue. Did you just buy it used? Most engine issues are traced back to poor maintenance.

I run SW headers on a built motor with with all new internals including 7.3L rods. I had this noise at start up and do not worry about it. Per the shop the machined the block I run 10w-40. I wouldn’t worry about it.
