I agree, the pearl white is a great addition but also agree the Harley line has run its course. Dealers here have them all over the lots still... I don't think they sell like they used too when it came s/c and was more differentiated from the rest of the F150 line.

Take off the gay stickers and Harley emblems, and the atrocious Harley interior junk and it would be a pretty kick ass 2-wheel drive street truck. s/c the 6.2L under the hood and it would be a force to be reckoned with on the streets :peace: This is probably fringing along the lines of the 'lightning' idea though

Yay for free Harley Davidson advertising? They should knock off $5000 on every truck since it's a mobile HD banner. I don't even like seeing dealer stickers on a truck let alone some other companies logo pasted everywhere.

I agree totally.

There will always be die hard harley guys and to each his own but the days of loud obnoxious bikes is past. They have now become the smear on the image of motorcycling.

Say what, I can't hear you over my exhaust!!

I don't ride a Harley (but do ride an R1200GS and an FZ1).
Where I ride I'd say I see 50% of the bikes on the road are Harleys or other cruisers (with Harleys outnumbering the other cruisers 10:1). And I'm talking about the *canyons* of Southern California here... I can't imagine the ratio out in the midwest.

I'm guessing there's a plenty big enough market to continue running these things. At the end of the day it doesn't take a lot of effort to make them, and I'm guessing they sell not only themselves but also other F-150s.

Ya I never understood the whole Harley davidson F-150 truck, just go buy a Harley why do you need a truck that has Harley stamped on it? Get rid of the Harley line and make it a lighting line and Ford will sell more!

That response is almost too blind sidedly idiotic for me to respond to, but I will anyway for the heck of it lol...

Why not buy a HD motorcyle instead of a HD truck? Is that seriously your arguement? Thats barely even worth entertaining as a worthy point to debate it's so idiotic. Maybe somebody needs 4 wheels vs 2, 4 doors vs none, a full bed vs saddlebags, any of those items perhaps?

As for getting rid of the Harley line, Ford would be shooting themselves in the foot. They've been a very popular model, and they've extended their alliance with HD several times now. They didn't have to keep making them, but they are, and it's not because it's a poor selling truck thats for sure. it was originally only supposed to be a 5 year alliance, then 7, now who knows how long. Just because you don't understand is no reason for Ford to stop producing a truck they're making money on and setting the bar for luxury pickups.

As for HD vs L line, they've got absolutely nothing to do with one another. Ford didn't have to only choose one, and could only do one or the other. The market had moved away from regular cab trucks and towards fully loaded luxury crew cab trucks. The new f150's are such tanks, even a regular cab one would need a serious power plant to be able to hold a candle to the Gen 2 L's. Ford would have been crucified if they made a Gen 3 L that was slower than the Gen 2 L's. Being the HD is back to its original roots as an appearance/luxury package, there's no issues with outdoing the power of previous trucks, it was never intended as a asphalt pounding sport truck. A gen 3 L would require something more than just a N/A 6.2, and it's a lot more R&D time and money invested to create a new powerplant, especially for a limited edition truck like the L, than it is to come up with some emblems, leather, and appearance package to support a HD model. Ford's not as dumb as you think.

Lastly, the stat's don't lie. Really think Ford would have sold more L's than HD's if they kept the L? History tells a different story. Ford only produced around 4-5k L's each year. They produced anywhere from 8-12k HD's a year during those same years (even on years that the HD's weren't supercharged, Ford still sold several thousand more HD's than L's). With how popular extended and crew cab trucks are, evenmoreso now than back then, there's no reason to believe that trend would have reversed if Ford was able to engineer a powertrain to keep a L around.

So take off the blinders of if it doesn't make sense in your own head and doesn't fit your own personal tastes so Ford shouldn't build it, and take a look at reality. The HD truck is relatively inexpensive for Ford to keep around and update every year with minor details, and packs the nicest interior of any F-150 out there setting the bar. And the fact it's HD edition isn't all it's about, but for many it's an added perk, and for those who care less about HD bikes such as myself, it's still a nice name and iconic american image for the premium model ford truck. Sure beats "Laramine" or "Laredo" or "Lariet" or whatever cheesy meaningless names other top model trucks of various brands carry, and usually correspond with nothing special other than some leather seats and a few other unmemorable tidbits. The HD name tied to the top model instantly ties correlation to sleek monotone paint schemes, 20-22" polished/chrome wheels, black leather interiors, the nicest interior you'll find in a truck, along with lots of subtle touches of styling throughout the entire truck. Really what does Chevy or Dodge have that gives the same image of a luxury truck as the ford HD truck package? NADA!

You're right, Ford would be smart to drop their top model pickup truck. Get back on park with GM and Dodge and just offer some humdrum boring top level trim models that are marginal at best in the appearance and luxury department. Mediocre is the key to being successful. I think Ford should drop the Raptor line too. I mean what idiots make an offroad truck? GM and Dodge don't sell one. Ford should reduce the models they have to try and keep a vast array of customers happy, and try to just shrink down and only offer 1 or 2 models for everybody to buy! :supergay:

Do you really live under a rock and can't relate to anything from the bigger picture of Ford just doing the best they can to offer a full lineup that appeals to everyone? Or do you really think Ford should only offer the truck that YOU personally like, and any other ones they should stop selling? I hope you don't own your own business. :birgits_tiredcoffee

Sooooo you're saying there's a chance.........:ROFLJest: I agree though, the HD has always had it's place and has been a staple for years now. It's not always everyone's taste but has proven itself as a decent seller for what it is.

Oh and my loud pipes have come in handy numerous times.....

Notice the gps. It looks like it has a 3D view. Can you do that with the current gps?

Believe it's called Bird's Eye View and yes my 2010 has that option.

Yeah, it's just the like, angled mode. Hit the icon on the top left corner a few times. It will cycle through.

This is all correct. I always rock Bird's Eye View on my Nav... I like it much better.

I dig your bike SOCOM, especially the frame.

I think it's safe to say that this thread is about to turn into a gasoline and beer fueled argument-fest. While I personally wouldn't buy a Harley F-150, I am all for Ford offering multiple trim levels and different editions..... after all, if it weren't for Ford's foresight and balls to offer all of these special editions and trim levels, our beloved Raptors likely would've never been born.
