FWIW, my 2012 has 122,000, no rust (CA truck), been off road most of its life, daily driver and reliable as hell. I also use it like a truck; loaded with anything that fits in the bed-rocks, bricks, sod, engines you name it. It’s also been hit (accident) 4 times w/zero damage. The best was getting side swiped by a brand new 2020 Volvo XC90, hit my right front wheel and totaled her car. Buy it!

I purchased my 2011 Raptor in 2019 for 17.5k the guy wanted 21k. no way I was giving him 21k. He didn't take care of it.
165k miles, the shocks and struts where completely shot. Tires had about as much tread as a girl car (almost none) almost NO coolant (idunno how it didn't blow up on this dude). The KAI (K&N) was BROKEN! The reservoir cap was broken, the metal brackets that attached to the frame ... Broke. The Change Oil pop-up was front and center and they dude is like, "oh that's ok, you can easily get 10k miles without changing the oil!" The sunroof was broke, he told me that it worked! (More on this later) Power steering fluid spraying all over the engine bay like an old dude with his ******** almost fused shut. It was messy.

So I offered 17.5, he was hesitant but he took my offer. And so like on day 1, I try to open the sun roof and it opened like a champ! But it wouldn't close!!! I had to gorilla duct tape a plastic wraped piece of cardboard to it till I figured out how to fix it.

This is kind of a long story, so let me know if you guys want me to keep going.

Long story short, I still have my truck and I love it.

When my 13 was destroyed in a accident so I had a decision to make.

I test drove a 13 raptor and then a Gen 13 lariat. For the premium and my comparing the raptor to the my Gen 12 lariat, I could not do it.

Now I do have a Gen 2 Raptor so I would say Raptor but it was after many years of non raptor.

You have to go with your gut.

Start your own build thread or tell us about everything in the new member section under your own thread. We all would like to hear this story and if you have pictures of all the messy stuff when you bought it.

Torsen….. not a big deal really.
No. A new Torsen front diff unit is about $700, (after waiting a month for delivery). The installation requires a lot of work, (especially since it's so close to the steering), before paying a shop to set it up within the housing and checking backlash, bearing wear, and resealing the coverplate. There's a diff fluid charge, too. Easy 8hrs shop labor all in, and that's WITH a lift. But when you absolutely need that 4WD, having that Torsen will pay for itself.
