This is more or less an FYI as I'm very happy with my Raptor to date and Ford's handling of this situation. I bought my 2010 6.2 as a CPO with 17k on it. I purchased a 6/100 extended warranty at that time. Late in 2013, the tranny bulkhead plug started leaking and Ford fixed it. Not long after, I started getting a shudder/bang when stopping. I'd already lubed the driveshaft splines, and this was not the slip/bump thing. In neutral or stopping in 3rd, this wouldn't happen. I took it in once in 2014, the techs found nothing. It continued and I finally got around last week to bringing it in again. They suspected the valve body, but it tested ok. They pulled the trans and found the 4th gear clutch was not engaging, the bearing and shaft was damaged and the case was fragged. Ford has authorized a remanufactured trans to be installed with a 3yr/ whatever thousand mile warranty on it. I'm cool with that. Just watch out, not all slip/bumps might be what they seem and if I didn't have the extended warranty, this would have cost me some serious coin.

Wow. Glad they found the problem and you're able to get it fixed under warranty.

How many miles on the tranny? Had you ever done any maintenance to it? Or fluid swap?

Ford serviced the trans at 50k, a fluid and filter change. At 62k, the bulkhead connector failed, causing a leak. Fresh fluid and a filter was installed again.
Other than this, the trans received no attention and caused no grief. My 6.2 engine is stock, I'm running 35" Toyo's on method wheels, and mid perch. My Raptor is pretty much stock, but it has seen a lot of off road use.

Do you drive in manual or tow/haul frequently? Or do you just have a heavy right foot?

The 2010 does not have a manual mode, other than selecting 1,2,3 with the shifter- I don't do that, I only use tow/haul when towing or occasionally on a steep highway downhill, and I actually drive it pretty easy other than some of the off road stuff.
I've put well over 100k on many new Ford trucks over the years, never had a single trans issue until now.

My truck was given back to me yesterday, two weeks to the day it was dropped off. Ford installed a new trans; AL3Z-7000-H, a new alternator, and a new idler pulley.
The alternator and pulley did not fix an intermittent squeal at start up, but the alternator did test bad. The dealer will be looking into the other accessories to find the squeal.
The new trans is slightly clunky, but I guess there is a learning process it goes through? Time will tell.
Overall, I'm mostly happy with how Ford handled this given the cost of this service.

I hope my tranny last for years yet! Don't have extended warranty. Glad yours is fixed right!
