I'm not going to any car shows. No way in hell I am washing the underside of a truck, let alone "detailing" it.

If you’re just gonna use it like disposable cutlery then that’s a good mentality

if you’re gonna keep it any length of time though given a lot of the undercarriage is visible & if you live in a place that gets a lot of snow & uses sale/brine/sand on roads.....well it’s a good idea to hose it off regularly in the least or to treat it w/ some protective measure- otherwise a lot of stuff is prone to rusting em making it look like crap & making working on the truck down the line more of a PITA as nuts/bolts/gaskets/bushings get rusted/rotted/oxidized/seized up etc

bro...don't do it. I would hate to see you around town and be laughing at you behind my tinted windows call you a noob, before rolling down the windows and saying hello, nice raptor. It would just be awkward for me.

And I know you will probably see me when Im rolling around Clayton after I do get a Raptor. Im not going to get one that has the 20"s on it. The look of the 17" Wheels just looks more fitting, and doesn't blend in with all of the Chevy/Ram guys that throw on 22"s with the Rough Country Lift Kits.

That's me. No way I'm keeping it past the end of warranty. Too difficult and too expensive to fix. I do hose the undercarriage off in the spring because salt. It's not like it will affect trade in value.

I plan on keeping mine until it gets more expensive to fix than buying a new truck. If it needs a new motor, I'll find someone to shove a new GT350 or GT500 motor and tranny in it. Anything else aside from electronic brains gives out, it gives me justification to tell the wife, "See Babe, I need to get the SVC Fox Racing DSC Performance Pack #2 because all those OEM parts are worn out, and I'll be able to keep it another 100,000 miles.....Guess I'll just buy a Prius as my DD for work ......... cheaper than dropping another $80k+ on a new Raptor.......

It's the electronic brains that scare me. And when they fail, you're stuck with fixing it, or trying, before you can sell or trade it. It would be one thing if Ford could fix them, but they seem to really struggle to diagnose problems. And they've got all of the special equipment and training. And the electronic parts are stupid expensive. It's not worth the worry.

No salt/brine here. I've owned tons of vehicles some with over 2-300k miles. I've never detailed the undercarriage and never had a rust problem. Back in '02, I purchased a brand new 2002 F350, at night. Next day I glanced underneath the truck for no good reason. Everything that was ferrous metal was covered with rust. I've never seen anything like it. I took it back in and made them give me a different one. Sales manager said "they're all like that. " I say, "show me". After 2 minutes looking at other trucks on the lot, he agreed to swap it out. I still don't understand it, unless it was driven from the factory to the shipper through the ocean or something.

I have pressure washed the underside of a crawler here and there due to mud, that's about it. Anyway, I didn't mean to sidetrack the discussion of how gay 20" rims are on a Raptor. Carry on with the man love.
