I was already worried that the ease of removal and resale value of a Raptor tailgate would be very tempted to thieves and then there were a few posts about some other owners getting thier tailgate stolen. So, I ordered a Tailgate Lock from Masterlock.

Best price I found was $13.00 on Amazon.

I thought the same thing. I used Gate Keeper tailgate lock from trucksecurity.com. I think I paid about 40 bucks. They have some other products of interest too.

That's what I do too... Don't they all have locks? Why not just lock your tailgate when not in use?

I dont know about others, but I hate having to lock and unlock my tailgate with the key, so hoping this solves the issue. I am in and out of the back of my truck a lot, and with the tonneau cover you have to open and unlock the tailgate each time you do. Like most I dont want to risk having it stole, so I would lock it each time and for under $20 to have the piece of mind not to have to lock it each time is worth it. Seems like a no brainer to me if it works.

This is my first truck with a locking tailgate and I rarely remember to lock it. And when I do, it seems like I never have the keys with me with I run out to get something. Or I have my hands full of stuff and I dont have a free hand to dig for the keys.

The powergate lock is on my wish list but for $13 I am protected in the interim.

I looked at the McGuard and was leaning that way til I saw the Master lock. It seems to be a modified hose clamp and retails for around $20 Heres a video demo McGard Tailgate Lock - YouTube

I like the ease of install and removal of the Masterlock and the all steel construction.
