Money. I'm not going to pretend to know the economics, but if the truck is still profitable, despite CAFE standards and whatever else comes their way, then Ford will keep selling them. I don't think it will be worth it for Ford to produce an R in the Gen 4 Raptor, but that's several years away.
Just another opinion here, but I know there seems to be a push towards electric, etc, but those things tend to follow the lead of whatever the current administration “wants”

I could see one scenario where say ford, will make more electric but will keep things like the raptor/r and what not as well.

Who knows

I can also see a scenario where a media comes out about child slave labor making their EV batteries or some other negative, and suddenly people are not so jazzed about an EV future. Doesn't have to be that big either. Drop CAFE standards, EV subsidies, and gas prices and people will want their inefficient vehicles again.

You make a good point here. Dodge claims the Hellcat motor goes away in 2023, and rumor has the Hellcat going away from the TRX in possibly 2024. If the TRX dies in 2023 or 2024, why would Ford make the Raptor R past that?
Good point. But it’s mostly about the money and profit. If Ford see’s sales continue and profit is high. This R lives even if the TRX as we know it dies. The only thing other than sales that would kill the R would be electrification at some point.

I don't think Ford ever had a problem selling any Gen Raptor. So they made money on them all. However, changing to the EB was the worst move.

Not sure I would go that far. What would have Ford used in the Gen 2, the pig of a motor 6.2 @ 400HP? Sure in 2017 it may have been ok and still a market leader. But by 2018 it would have looked pretty week. I don’t think they planned to keep that modular motor around. The only performance V8 back then could have been some worked over 5.0 Coyote with a blower on it and it would have made some good power pretty easily.

The 5.2 Predator is a fantastic motor no doubt. But it’s launched the Raptor R into some crazy price range now. Honestly I would have been more happy to have seen a SC 5.0 in the R and priced within reason and able to sell a lot of them. Or even a reworked 5.2 Voodoo motor. Ford obviously wants this to be limited and built and priced it that way.

Well that's my feeling as well. No one wanted the EB. Supercharging the SC 6.2 is a nice upgrade for those who went that route. The Raptor deserved to be powered with a V8 like everyone has always said. I'm sure most would have appreciated the V8 to build from in all Gen's...

Im a plumber too. 22yrs full time and in business for 14 years. I could swing the raptor r but am not going to out of pure principle of the ADMs. I could never do that to one of our customers existing or new. greed is b u l l s h i t. the make enough off it at msrp. 5-10k over sure, i get the market part of the equation, but anymore than that is stealing in my opinion.
I just bought a clean 17 with 40k on it and a bunch of upgrades around 7k worth for 60k , I’m not really the brand new truck kinda guy unless it’s a work truck
