From the procharger I have on there now I should be seeing roughly 12-15hp per psi, so at 5psi thats roughly 60-75 hp. Since I am making 540-550 range on a soft tune you should be able to see 475 range with stroker, ported heads, and cams. Also livernois offers a slightly higher compression...
I am not sure what exactly caused the first motor to go boom. I haven't had to much seat time with the new motor because Dallas Performance has been working on getting the tune right. I dropped it off at their shop at the beginning of last week and am waiting on the new headunit install and...
Well the motor is in and the tune is coming together, but I am upgrading the procharger head unit to get some more boost out of it. With the ported heads the boost dropped down to 5psi range and with minimal aftermarket support for there motors we decided to go with a bigger head unit instead...
I don't think valve float was a problem at all, and still feel that its the factory torque to yield head bolts that just can't hold up under boost. Its not the first raptor i've seen with this problem and most of them are supercharged so I'm thinking there is a common problem. Here are the...
Well I just got the pictures from the shop and looks like the motor is a total loss. It messed up the heads, shattered two pistons, bent at least one rod and a nice little hole in one of the cylinder walls. I'll post up pictures later when I get home and I'll be calling Rick@livernois soon for a...
unfortunately its being torn down right now at the shop so I don't have any pictures right now, but i'll see if i can get some when everythings all apart
I just had mine do something very similar and its being torn down right now just to see what all it messed up. So far I have a bent spark plug, messed up heads, hole in #1 piston and some gouging in the walls. Unfortunately mine was procharged so no warranty for me.
When dealing with the boost and exhaust change I figured it would be a lot easier to find an SCT tuner and have them set the truck on the dyno for a much more accurate tune.
I'm just waiting to find if the the cylinder walls aren't to messed up to see if I need to order the rotating assembly or the shortblock. If I have to rebuild it I don't see a point in going back to the stock displacement if their is more out there. Also what cam would you recommend for the...
Unfortunately it looks like the motor is a total loss, so it might be time for a 6.6l.
The shop pulled all the plugs and #1 spark plug was bent, so they scoped the motor and found a hole in the piston of cylinder 1, and are going to pull the motor and tear it all down now to see the extent of...
I recently blew my what I'm pretty sure is my head gaskets. I was driving down the highway and pretty much lost all power with the check engine light blinking rapidly at me. Luckily I was taking it back up to the shop that installed the pro charger kit to get a cutout installed. It's currently...
