Mine would do this periodically. Typically slowing down before a turn so I would have to muscle it around the corner haha. I found a foil wrapped harness behind the motor was laying on the header. Rectified that situation and never had the issue again. Easy to check and easy to zip tie up and...
Gen 4 whipple kit owner here. Hindsight 20/20, I would save up and do the shortblock and supercharger at the same time. Granted I had my kit pulleyed beyond the standard "stage 2", but it sent a rod through the block and destroyed the ENTIRE motor. Bottom end, top end AND THE SUPERCHARGER. It...
My engine let go in 2020 during peak pandemic. MMR is California based they were pretty shut down. Block was basically impossible to get new from Ford. Ordered in October 2020 and shipped in February 2021. I'm sure the situation is better now. I think they even have an expedited service?
From what I understand, there is not an aftermarket EFI manifold available for these motors. I think most/all of those N/A builds are using a factory manifold. Perhaps you could look into porting it like the 5.0 guys do. Now I think I saw an aluminum 4150 style carb throttle body manifold...
My stage 2 whipple setup runs two Spal brand pusher fans on the heat exchanger in front of the radiator. They're pretty much on as soon as the key is on. 160 degree t-stat. I only hear the OEM radiator puller fans on occasion when it's hot, AC on and I've been driving 30+ minutes. They may be on...
I really enjoy the Tuxedo Black paint. The metallic flake in the light is really nice. Probably not something most people notice or care about, but I would rock it as-is. At least for a while.
Stage 2 kit here with 12% OD lower pulley and 3.25 upper among other things. I had the kit as it came from whipple. I had 2 different local tuners try to get rid of the surge. Finally reached out to JDM and they had me get rid of the big whipple branded throttle body and go to the ford racing...
B is for Build did an oem parts front end conversion gen 1 to gen 2 and documented it on youtube. Not my cup of tea. I would just get the gen 2 if you want the look. Most everything is better about the new trucks with the exception of the sound and perhaps the extra cost.
I feel for you. I was in the same boat about a year ago. Just now financially recovering haha. The question now is go back with a stock longblock(heads are trashed most likely. Mine were) or going built and pulleying down?
Sweet truck! I think it's kind of normal. I've noticed that on my 13 when I hop in it after driving other vehicles. You get used to it. Hydraulic steering vs electric in the gen 2. I saw a video online where a guy adjusted the nut on the rack to take out some of the steering wheel play...
So on the street with the the Whipple on my 2013 and one wheel drive, it's almost effortless to trigger the SUPER INVASIVE traction control system. While searching for a posi unit, I stumbled across this product. It seems like it would offer the best of both worlds. Limited slip for street use...
It's more depressing than anything. I think 2 or 3 pistons were gone and even the Whipple was trashed. Had to get a new head unit.
Pretty much. I'm trying to save some bucks where I can. I keep telling myself it's cheaper than jumping ship and buying a TRX. Cumulatively, I'm not even sure...
Got the tires in. Factory 315/70/17 sizing and even got the spare. Waiting on suspension parts to put those on. The JLT catch can is so much nicer than my hobbled together leaky Chinese attempt. 10/10 recommend. I forgot about the speaker upgrade. They sound better than the blown stockers though...
Just to re-cap, I had a whipple stage 2 kit installed on my Raptor. Additionally I went with stainless power headers, off road y pipe and ATI 12% overdrive pulley.
While doing this draggy pull, the motor let go. Sent a couple of rods out the side of the block.
I should have taken pictures of...
The 6R80 pump gear (and torque converter) changed in vehicles produced after may of 2014. You can use the 5.0 or even the 3.5 ecoboost converter as long as it was a 2011-early 2014 production.
Blew my 6.2 at 598whp. Gen 4 whipple stage 2 kit, long tubes, billet OPG's and ATI 12% OD pulley. Upon inspection, the pistons were beautiful, so it wasn't a fueling issue. The rods just let go and punched 3 holes in the block. I'm sure if one were to keep the standard whipple pulley setup, it...
I work at Circle D and would be happy to help with the converter. Feel free to give us a call. That being said, B E N is correct. It will not pick up your top end performance. The torque converter should be in lockup at that point. This means 0 torque converter slip.
Because these are installed and pre-loaded with the axle at full droop, I don't think the off-road ability of the truck is hindered much. From what I understand, as the rear leaf spring compresses, the RAS is effectively increasing spring rate. I could see this possibly being undesirable on...
