you really think a reman from the dealer is the cheapest route? now that christmas is all paid for, im looking to buy a new motor sooner than later. i have been searching but not sure where to buy. a few companies that sell remans but not sure of their reputation. would like to hear personal experiences. probably good for @MurderedOutSVT to know as well
Sorry to hear this for both of you guys. Went through the same thing earlier this year and agree 100% with @MTF. Find a Ford reman, install a Melling oil pump with billet gears and, if funds allow it, get a JDM Stage 2 Whipple kit. That is the absolute best bang for your buck.

Something else that may be of interest - Ford strongly suggested installing a completely new intake so that no residual shrapnel from the moto-grenade was sucked through the new motor on startup. That surprised me and haven't ever seen it mentioned anywhere on the forum. I'm not much of a mechanic, so maybe that's just common knowledge.

Welp. She gave it up last night on the way to the grocerey store of all places. Slung a rod through the block, oil everywhere, fire, damn near a Raptor toast was it not for a tiny and much thankful usually out of the mind extinguisher.

I wasn't even getting on her is the sad part.

Got her back home we shall see what happens.
Well that sucks... How many miles did ya have on it with the Pro-Charger?
Unfortunately the weak link on the 6.2 is the pistons then the rods. Usually on boosted 6.2 the piston fails, gets cocked sideways in the bore causing rod failure and a nice window in the block.

If you need to do it on a really tight budget, find a good recycler and pull a newer SuperDuty 6.2. You will need to swap cams, intake and oil filter housing (SD is on the side) but everything else is the same.

That definitely sucks, sorry to hear it man. But good to hear it didn't burn to the ground though, damn. Dibs on the blower if you get a new one haha! Best of luck on the resurrection, let us know how it goes.

That is good advice. If there is an upper end failure, debris will often contaminate the intake manifold plenum and runners. Due to the design of most manifolds, it’s impossible to verify that all debris has been successfully removed. Therefore, replacement of the intake manifold is highly recommended.

I feel for you. I was in the same boat about a year ago. Just now financially recovering haha. The question now is go back with a stock longblock(heads are trashed most likely. Mine were) or going built and pulleying down?
