Thanks for info both of you. Ugh. Horrified. Who would do this to an innocent Raptor?
Think all the tapping is into this (far from 100% certain on that though): https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-wire-harness-kl3z14401at/?c=YT1mb3Jk
Guessing the expensive bit of that is probably...
So my dealer adds a temporary alarm to all vehicles it sells. I was informed that it just plugs in and there are no cut wires whatsoever and it can be completely removed without any adverse effect. I asked very specifically about this.
Turns out not to be true. They tapped into the wiring...
Knock on wood, but how often do you get dinged in a Raptor? Parked normally, almost everything will hit the running boards, delivering instant karma to the careless person's vehicle. Rear doors can be a problem of course.
Thanks for detailed post smurfslayer, I'm in a similar situation. I'll probably only ever do a fog pocket kit though.
I had been thinking of doing Baja kit with S2 Pro Amber Wide Cornering + Squadron Racer Spot + Squadron Pro Driving/Combo.
Maybe I should instead do S2 Pro Driving Combo +...
Went from 2011 Sony (totally stock) to 2019 B&0 (totally stock). Can totally understand if to a proper audiophile both of those systems are absolute junk...but for me it was genuinely a night-day difference. I'm completely kidding calling B&O best stereo ever....but the 2011 Sony was just...
$20,000+ tax is a lot of money for piece of mind and basically irrelevant upgrades. You still have the 5/60 powertrain warranty, and even if the nav system/other tech crap does poop the bed, they're not that expensive to buy parts for if you Google info and DIY.
Is there an extended...
Ran on my 2011, excellent tires for the first 30-40%, and even reasonably quiet.
BUT AFTER 25,000 MILES THEY ARE AS OBNOXIOUSLY LOUD AS PEOPLE WHO TYPE TEXT IN ALL CAPITAL LETTERS.
I was upset they had so much tread life left. Brother's set had exactly same behavior. They still worked...
So you guys are saying this thing is no Bang and all Olufson?
After 9 years with the 2011 Sony system....the B&O is the world's greatest stereo to me. :D (And yes, obviously I've never had a proper setup).
I wish I could ignore it all...the data collection is frustrating, but super bothered by the security designs of most stuff, and the fact that almost all security is not maintained for more than a couple years. By then the software developers have moved on to working on new models. Kept my OG...
Off the top of my head....
Remote attacks (obviously this is not a Ford, but potential problem for any always-connected vehicle) :
Sale or your data (e.g. where you are, everywhere you've been) to third parties. And you agree to it in constantly updated terms and conditions / privacy...
So I'm thinking of finally replacing my 2011 with a 19/20. Would get an 802A with all the electronics crap, which I generally like. But I live/work in the software industry and I've seen how handling of customer data really works, and I've seen how internet-connected device "security" really...
Wow, seeing these are 880 right now for full set of new takeoffs...do these just bolt right on to Gen1's? I had been planning to have my stock 2.5s rebuilt soon.
Is $900 + ($120 for airbag: https://www.tascaparts.com/oem-parts/ford-driver-air-bag-fl3z15043b13ab ) all I'd need to do this? Can't believe airbags are that cheap.
Semi-related question....would I be able to make response time quicker on manual shift mode with a tune?
And yet another...
Fixed it, just posting for reference to anyone who has a similar problem.
Bought this and installed it:

Fairly easy job, one connector and a few bolts to remove/replace. There is a single pinout wire that has to be removed...
2011 crew cab, 47k on it, original owner. 4WD doesn't get used much, I use it somewhat in dirt, never in rain, and haven't had it in snow.
GOOD: The 4x2 / 4x4HIGH / 4X4LOW icon in the cluster is ALWAYS ACCURATE.
GOOD: The front wheels are driven when in the 4WD modes, and not driven in...
I don't understand...what are you implying? I paid about halfway between MSRP and invoice for the Raptor. Yes, most dealers were charging $5-10k over even at that time.
Yep, that's here. This place is just stupid. May even be flying back east to get the new heap (Toiletta Taco). Everyone's apparently rich here...to the degree that I'm considering GTFO-ing this place altogether.
It's come time to sell it. I have a 2011 black crew with 39k on it, all options except graphics. Only extras are new Duratracs and Line-X. KBB's instant online offer here in socal is 42,700 (and they don't even factor those add-ons).
Does that seem like a decent price to avoid all the BS...
And if the truck doesn't remember your preference on whether the gear display is shown when it's started next time, call your tuner and ask him to use a newer version of the PCM software as his base tune. Early 2011s (e.g. my truck) didn't have this until a factory PCM update.
Welcome, that's more of a Raptor than half the trucks here (which have been so far modified that part that indicates that they're "Raptors" is the VIN number). All the parts on your truck came from a Raptor that's no longer really a Raptor.
Enjoy and rest assured that 99% of the info on this...
Just curious, I assume it's not possible to pull the radio to replace the actuator?
F150 center console to remove radio Raptor - YouTube
I had to replace one of these on my '04 Sierra, fortunately it was the easy side...exactly the same problem/scenario. Ford and GM must work together to...
