Not without touching the paint. I've had three black pickups and never damaged the paint brushing it off lightly using a long handled scraper with a brush at one end. Never had any swirls or scratches come spring. Gently is the key word here.
Mine work and haven't had any problems, but it's still pretty new. That said, I haven't seen any posts here or elsewhere about 2nd Gens with problems. Doesn't seem to be wide spread anyway.
On a recent 1100 mile round trip, mostly on interstate highways, with cruise set at 62 mph I averaged 19.6 mpg. There was very little wind either way. A head or side winds would certainly have made mileage worse. Local mixed driving, I'm getting about 15.5 mpg if I don't drive too...
I thought about doing this mod but the amber headlight surrounds and parking lights aren't very bright during the day. They aren't as bright as the dedicated running lamps on most other vehicles. Having the headlights on at a lower intensity is probably the safer way to go. When the first led...
Mine had 4 miles on it when I made my test drive. Had 16 when I picked it up but that included my test drive. All of these trucks are in fact driven on a dyno just before they leave the assembly plant to ensure they don't have any problems that need to be addressed. So they have been revved to...
That's good to hear as I'm in the same boat. I have the same misgivings on the reliability of the EcoBoost engines. I really like this truck and find that it's amazing in every way. I knew I was taking a chance when I bought it but figured I'd try it. If I have trouble within the warranty...
I had the warranty on my 2008 Chevrolet 2500HD with Duramax/Allison voided because I tuned it and added an aftermarket exhaust. It's hands down the best truck I've ever owned and I still have it. 98,000 miles and never been back to the dealer except to have a faulty four wheel drive switch...
There is no concrete answer when mods are small and innocuous - depends on too many variables. If Ford or your dealership decides to void the warranty, then you bear the burden of proving your mod wasn't responsible for a particular problem. From the post above, #2, you will be taking a risk...
I'm inclined to believe that not many people are going to want to climb under my truck to look at the exhaust system, so without some substantial power gains - probably not interested!
Goes to prove things aren't always as easy as they seem. Many auto parts now have the vehicle's VIN stamped into them so they can be identified if the vehicle is stolen and then parted out by the thieves. I'm pretty sure tailgates do have the VIN stamped into them. It's a little awkward not...
I've only had the truck for a couple of months and I've only used the active assist system for a few days now, but overall I like it. I didn't much care for the steering wheel vibration and turned that off but I can live with the active assist. There is a time to use it and time to turn it off...
If we're catching 90-95% of the blow-by - no money has been wasted. The catch cans are doing the job they were intended to do. I'll gladly settle for that kind of efficiency! My point is that posters should avoid making rash statements for products that can't be substantiated by facts and are...
I find that clearing the cache in the browser works. It seems like once signed in, the Ford system knows you were there and won't allow a second sign in. You can google how to clear the cache in whatever browser you use. I rarely find anything useful on the Ford Owner Site, it's mostly...
For me, that would be too tight. It's only a matter of time until something bad happens with so little clearance. That might work occasionally, say when you're going on vacation and the truck is left at home but it's a disaster waiting to happen. Sorry to bash your hopes.
The lug nuts on my 19 are solid steel, probably chrome plated, no stainless caps on them. I've had experience with both and both have their advantages. Cheap chrome plated lug nuts rust badly whereas those with stainless caps last a long time. If buying chrome plated lug nuts, buy quality...
