Purchased a new 2018 SCrew in March, 2018 with most options (but no sunroof). Prior to purchase, I did some extensive research on this forum and also consulted other online resources. In some ways, this was a mistake as it induced a severe case of RPA (Raptor Problem Anxiety) due to all the problems reported by Raptor owners. I am not yet cured of this malady, but it has become much less severe with the passage of time, mainly because as I approach 25,000 miles on the odo, I am unable to complain about a single problem or other disappointment. The only downer I can report in the first 25,000 miles is a flat tire due to a large triangular chunk of metal which penetrated the center of the tread on the right rear tire. I was at 23,000 miles when this happened, so decided just to put on new tires all around rather than mixing old and new. This is certainly not a problem that can be attributed to Ford or the Raptor.
One of the concerns which kept coming up in my research was that of less than expert maintenance by Ford dealers. For convenience, I elected to try the closest dealer to my shop even though the online reviews for this dealer were less than stellar. So far, no complaints. Three oil changes without a hitch, but you’d kind of expect this for such a simple task.
So, happy camper here so far. Raptor is my first Ford and first vehicle from a U.S. headquartered manufacturer. Admittedly, I don’t stress my truck significantly. My gravel driveway is as close to off road as I want to get. The truck is my daily driver and reliability is paramount. So far, so good, but RPA still lurks in the background.
