I'd like to see a range comparison for the different mounting options.
Ideally your antenna would be mounted dead center of the roof. This would give you an equal ground plane for best range in all directions. I've noticed that the majority of the fixed mounts are just above the third brake...
Are any of these strong enough to sit on or sleep on? I wouldn't mind using the bed cover for a raised sleeping platform when camping in crappy areas but I don't know if any of them are actually strong enough for that.
I've been waiting for the Roll-X XT to come out but it seems to be taking...
Like many said. You can either adjust it in the settings or you can simply force her to talk and use the volume control knob to adjust. I messed with mine forever trying to figure it out each way but the knob was the easiest to always find.
The aftermarket diff cover options have different torque specs for the different hardware also. Refer to the install instructions for each one. I think the AFE was 22-25 ft lbs but the mag tech was 16? The stock was definitely much tighter coming off.
That video is money. My code was actually on a big sticker on the front side of the box they were pointing at. I spent an hour looking behind it at the tiny sticker with a mirror and flashlight trying to figure the code out when I did mine originally... I gave up and then decided to randomly try...
Stuck bolts can usually be avoided by breaking all of the bolts loose before removing as stated. If you have one being stubborn a heat gun is your friend. Someone mentioned using a soldering iron earlier and that works well on smaller bolts and amazing well on inserts where you can get direct...
Just wanted to say thanks for the awesome thread and instructions. I installed an AFE cover tonight and it was pretty much the same procedures. The only minor differences were the different torques for the bolts and the additional hardware. My only issue was getting the stock diff cover off...
I hate those kits with the plastic handles. I have the ARB plug kit and the bigger T-Handles make everything so much easier. A professional grade tire plug kit is only about $40 and pays for itself if you use it.
Back on topic... I installed an AFE rear diff cover tonight and changed some...
I drove the truck today and figured the menu's out in about 2 minutes. Push and hold the phone button on the steering wheel for 3 seconds. You can scroll through the options and adjust settings. The lock pick is pretty cool and does exactly what I wanted. I like the NavTv from the little that...
I installed the Lockpick and front camera on my 2011 the other day. It's a really simple plug and play affair. The most challenging part is removing the center console trim pieces to get into the stereo/ Nav area. There is a pretty decent video on youtube that shows the step by step. All of the...
I installed the lock pick and front camera, did the second USB, took off and locktighted a ton of hardware and started the wiring for my Whelen rear ambers. Much more to do tomorrow.
the real question is more along the lines of failures. Has anyone on this forum ever had a failure of a Chinese light? I know I'm not the only one who has sent lights back to Rigid for repair...
If my life depended on my lights I'd have a box full of backups wrapped in bubble wrap on hand for...
I agree with everyone above. If I was doing a fresh install on mine again, I'd push the entire bracket back until the lights were free from the bumper. Once I established sufficient clearance I'd cut off the excess and drill new mounting holes.
The poor fit of the plate with out bumpers rubbed...
Can the lock pick do thermal imaging by treating it as just another camera or is there some sorcery within the NavTv that makes it a better option for that?
The worst part about changing the pump is the long wait time for a replacement part. It's not a difficult job with the right tools. I did mine pretty quickly but now that I've burned one pump I'm doing a cooler and reservoir combo. There are some decent threads on here for normal trucks that'll...
What is the best option for those of us that have to add the front camera? I've got a 2011 that needs a front camera. I want to be able to control the cameras and override nav when driving. I don't really care about DVD's or should I?
The NavTv looks cool but seems like it's the most expensive...
I've got everything in a folder on the desktop in the truck computer now just in case. You inspired me to be more proactive with comms after I saw you reloading on the go. I figure it's such a simple thing to bring a laptop that it just makes sense. Thanks for the heads up.
I don't think it's the gasket around the lens on mine. I'd bet that it is the electrical connection grommet/ seal on the top of the light that is failing. I got one off road day with mine when both lights from the same box had water intrusion. That's a straight up quality assurance issue and not...
What are some good suggestions for booster seats? My six year old is too tall for any of these. The booster locks down pretty well in the car but I haven't had her in the truck yet. The other issue I foresee is her legs hanging without support on longer trips. I'd like to get something that will...
Do you have to go through the driver install procedure every time you load the radios?
My computer loaded everything fine previously and then wasted about an hour of my life today when I tried to program a second radio. Nothing changed between the two programming sessions except the radio and...
