GEN 1 GEN2 Rear Shocks on GEN1 worth it?

I did it. Mostly on-road driving so I didn’t care much as far as full travel length. The ride is quite noticeably smoother with the larger diameter.

    One Piece Solid Rear Window??

One of the coolest features on vehicles. Take note ford. Toyota did.

What did u do to your raptor today?

Oil change, rotated tires. Spilled less oil than last time. I call that a win. Had some help from the grease monkey…if you consider rock in’ around the clock to be help!

    Rocker Rust 2023

If you want to sell let me know. My local Ford dealer sends me an offer letter for my truck every month. They are desperate up here for trucks.

    Rocker Rust 2023

This seems to be the case for us northerners. I see here all the time everyone down south loving their Gen 1, which I do as well, but it doesn’t fit in my garage, my roads are inundated with salt/brine, and rust is just a way of life. I love the truck, but the practical person in me says...

wth.... is my computer taking a dump?

Is this the built in Nav? Do you actually use that? I’ve had nothing but issues with it on my ‘14. I generally know where I’m going, but if I don’t, I just use my phone. Does anyone else still use the built in nav that they haven’t upgraded on a Gen 1?

    Rocker Rust 2023

Just depends where you are I guess. I don’t know much about body work, but I would say a northern state has more experience and knowledge about these things - I have looked into an entirely new (used) cab, even Gen 2 aluminum, but I’m told that won’t bolt up so to speak. I would trust a...

    Rocker Rust 2023

It absolutely sucks to be up north. I love the snow - when we get it, donuts are too fun in the Raptor - but we pay such a premium for vehicles as they get trashed so quickly in general.

Are you larger? I was concerned myself from day one, but I’m 6’3” and 220.

    Rocker Rust 2023

FWIW I was quoted 5k in Central IL a year back - before all this large scale inflation - to do rockers and cab corners. I’m sure it’s probably doubled by now. They would only do it all, not just corners, as they said everybody comes back a year or two later crying that their rockers rotted out...

    Rocker Rust 2023

You’re in a pickle. I did the same, having not known about the 09-14 cab corner/rocker issue until too late. Bought a South Dakota by way of St. Louis truck. Checked out with PPI, no codes, everything else looked good, but they didn’t mention this as a future issue. Two years and IL salt...

GEN 1 Truck randomly shut off while driving...

Mine was relocated to slot 70 by a Ford dealer - I’m not an adept electrician, and if they screw it it falls on them. They put a sticker on top of the box that says “Fuel Pump Fuse 70”. Nice of them I guess.

Perspective high milage gen 1 buyer

Where is it located? Rusty cab corners and rockers are pricy to fix…ask me how I know. Get a PPI from a certified source, or at least a shop you trust. Check codes. Run it hard before buying, make sure you get a cold start, check shifts from 2-3 aren’t super rough, and check the electronic...

    Spark Plug Change

I opted for the stealership route for the first go-around while I learned more about it. If anything goes south it’s their fault…but we all know how that goes too! ‍♂️

Yes! Finally back in a Gen 1!!

Any time I think about selling mine, I come to this thread for a good kick in the nuts.

Pulling to the right - After Alignment

Literally been down this road, have faith. I am meticulous in this way as well, but have learned to live with a little play in the red stripe because of the below… Exactly. Learned to drive on an ‘85 F150 that didn’t even need a key. The steering wheel could do nearly 45• without moving the...

Pulling to the right - After Alignment

Could be the tires. I had some KO2s I got from a Gen2 user here (≈5k on them) on the stock 2014 beadlock capables and I kept having issues with the truck pulling right. Multiple alignments and all kinds of stuff thrown at it later and it went away…after I put on methods on grabbers that I got...

Gen 3 to Gen 1 consideration

@FordTechOne is a great resource. Gen 1 isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, and that’s ok. Thanks for your knowledge as you’ve helped me on multiple issues in the past! Also…the Gen 1 will more than likely be like the 70’s Broncos, etc before too long…just sayin’…:p

Gen 1 Occasional Slamming into Gear

My 2014 shifts harder from 2-3 than any other gears. It only happens when the trans temp is low on the first drive of the day and goes away after it’s warm. I also experience hard shifts in the low gears when only using light throttle. If I give it some juice it shifts smoother - she just wants...

Does Dorman make an IWE delete part now???

My steering got tighter when I put them in. I liked that, some may not. Just and FYI from my experience.

Does Dorman make an IWE delete part now???

Did the delete and have no regurts so far two years in. Off-road is limited to snowy donuts and gravel roads unfortunately. Probably not the best idea, but I just cut them and tied them up. No plugs. No problems yet. Now that I say that I’m sure something is going to sheet the bed.
