My concern would be that if you do have it installed by the dealer, now there is a record of it. You're almost better off not having the dealer install it for warranty repairs. At that point though, what is the point of the FP tune? Unless of course no one is ever able to crack the newer trucks.

Yeah once you hit 36k miles, might as well go with a more aggressive tune unless they are never able to crack the newer models.

There are likely zero 150K mile 5.2 supercharged engines in any vehicle out there let alone 250K. I don’t think there will be any difference in longevity between the two. One has proof and the other doesn’t, but I wouldn’t have doubts with either if aggressively maintained.

Im a little surprised that its not CA legal. I mean its not like its an extreme tune, you're still running cats, pump gas. Is it purely not legal because its not an OEM tune as it came from the factory? I know nothing about the mayhem of passing smog in California.

I hope they don't ramp up the modes such that normal = sport, Sport = baja...etc. Id rather them just make it shift better/more intelligently. A min setting of sport would be a show stopper for me. Sometimes i need the trans to be calm...lol

Ive been seeing online that the 5 year 60K powertrain would possibly revert to a 3 year 36K warranty. Also you'd need to have it installed at a dealer to even get that. Information or speculation of information has been a little nebulous on the fine print of the tune with warranty coverage.

People were flying cross country during the covid times for all sorts of vehicles. We forget that ordering a gen 3 used to be hard to order for MSRP and if you didn’t want to wait 10 months, you might have to find one across the country or pay 15K over.

It can be tricky depending on location. I wouldn’t be willing to fly 1500 miles, lose out on the tax credit with trade in…etc..etc. Some people are also not willing to thrash and thrash and thrash on dealers and spend weekend after weekend wheeling and dealing all to save a couple...

Id be worried about something being tweaked in there. All those little brackets lining up....etc. If it is as simple as a new aftermarket bumper that would be pretty awesome. Id take it to someone who will keep it off carfax, but give you an idea if there is 10K worth of messed up stuff back...
