Alright, I'm graduating from college in a month and I am seriously looking into buying a Raptor. I'v been lurking around the forum for a while for some answers, but I figured I'd just ask my own questions. Some are repeats so please bare with me...

How uncommon is it to find a Scab with out all the bells and whistles?

Do I really want a Scab, and what are the drawbacks? (I like the shorter wheelbase)

Are Scabs cramped in the back seat?

Do I really want a Raptor for that matter?

What will I end up paying out the door for a basic Scab?

If I have to "order" one from the dealer is it going to cost me extra?

Is dealer support good with Raptors?

Is there any drawbacks to having a raptor over a regular pickup?

Have you "accidentally" broken anything on yours?

What is expected MPG? (MY suburban already get 10mpg)

Is used the way to go?

5.4 or 6.2?

I'll be using it as a daily driver AND support vehicle in baja and in other remote areas. The only regular passenger in the back would be my dog. I would probably load a bike in the back once a week.

I know some of these are a little stupid, but I feel like yall will give me a more helpful answer than others. After all, If I ask my girlfriend she will tell me to buy a Kia.

Do I really want a Raptor for that matter? = Hell Yes!

Is there any drawbacks to having a raptor over a regular pickup? = Only if you like "ORDINARY" or "PLAIN"

Have you "accidentally" broken anything on yours?

What is expected MPG? (MY suburban already get 10mpg) = Shouldn't matter

5.4 or 6.2?

All the other questions are kinda worthless because whatever type Raptor you purchase; it will be AWESOME and you'll ABSOLUTELY love it!

...hope this helps... :)

You seem to have your heart set on a Scab. I had my heart on a Screw. So you know what I did? In went out and bought one and didn't ask for people's opinions.

J/k man. J/k. Well, for future, welcome to the family.

The scabs flaws and successes are obvious.

The shorter wheel base makes it more nimble on the trail. Scabs also come with the standard gas tank whereas my screw has a 36 gallon tank.

Scabs have less leg room on the back but that's all up to you. You got kids or a tall family? The screw does offer ample room, but the scab will be just fine even if you had two car seats.

I'm right about 13mpg for the past 4 months.

Do you want a Raptor???? Well I can't answer that for you but I can tell you that nobody NEEDS a raptor. We all got them because we recognized the incredible engineering that Ford did to make this off road beast an unforgettable driving experience.

Don't get a Raptor for the gas milage. Don't open a can of worms and say "why a scab?" And especially don't say "why a Raptor".

You want a scab Raptor....get a scab Raptor

I managed to find a '10 base scab (with the interior package only) for a reasonable price, carmax had quite a lot.

Lower towing capacity than a screw.

Do I really want a Raptor for that matter?

Of course you do thats a stupid question.

What will I end up paying out the door for a basic Scab?

Should be able to get one for mid to upper 30's out the door for a gently used one.

Not yet, but not really been trying.

What is expected MPG? (MY suburban already get 10mpg)

Getting ~17 on the highway section of my commute with no traffic (~40 miles) combined its 12-14 depending on how much lead is in my boot that day.

Is used the way to go?

Personally I don't like the instant loss part of buying new but thats just me, if cost is a deciding factor used is the way to go.

5.4 or 6.2?

Silly question 6.2.

I figure buying a used raptor is like buying a used dirt bike. When they say "never been raced" you know its been ragged out.

Is the rear suspension adjustable on a stock truck? It seems like the rebound is quite fast in the rear.

The 6.2 is a strong MF! Search around for a deal on a used 2010 scab. Upgrade the front arms and throw on some 3.0's. If you ride your dirt bike full throttle then you know "you only live once so go wfo"! I see a Raptor in your future and your future Raptor will give you many many miles of **** Yea's!
