So now I have cam phaser issues? These first 4 months of ownership have been rough

This literally started in the last week or so. Thought because it was at 106k miles I was past the cam phaser issue, hoping that the prior owner had resolved it.

I thought I was hearing this from time to time the last week but I let it sit overnight, didn't remote start, went outside just to see if I was looney, but sure enough, it made the noise. I think this is cam phasers, right?

Unfortunately yes. That’s the phaser rattle. Plain as day.

well... if I'm gonna do it, do I just do the whole timing system? chain, guides, tensioners?

Found the right kit from Freedom Racing, edited my post. Will keep the thread updated. After this the truck better be bulletproof :angels2: Thane from Freedom Racing was super helpful on the phone.

Gonna put some of those Lowes springs on the turbo wastegates and some PB blaster silicone on the leaf springs. Hope it will not need anything else after this for a while... All the budget for the GooseTune and Baja Designs lighting is going the way of the phasers...

We are mid swing! Eternally grateful for all the info I've been using through this forum to get correct information on this work. Helps a lot to do this with a friend!

We have only been working weekends and the timing cover went back on today. Pretty happy with the install over-all so far. Could do a write-up but a couple of people on here already did some great ones, not sure I have anything additional to contribute. Doing this alone would have taken more than 2x the time so I'm happy.

While we were working on this we also took apart the two diffs and replaced fluids there, as well as the transmission and transfer case. I don't think any of those oils were changed in the 100k miles this truck has on it. I pray it will run great after all of this is done.

Well... that was quite the project. Truck is back on the road :) Just a small CEL related to the PCV, going to the dealer to pick up a new valve tomorrow. already ordered OCC kit from UPR $$$$. plan is to install that and clean out all the oil and walnut blast the valves in a month or two.

I think final mods will be stage 1 Garrett turbos, catless pipes, full-race intercooler, and goose tunes in between each

Well... I started digging back into stuff. After all that work, truck is back on the road. Having new driver side IWE is great, no more noise there -- but I started wondering why the truck is a bit shaky, and some chirping upon initial acceleration, some clunking after releasing throttle and pressing again. hoping it's just bad universal joints (u joints)

If anyone could confirm a few things:
1. 2019 has a 1-piece driveshaft (and thus no center bearing) -- looks like a single shaft to me
2. replacing the u joints with Spicer 5-1410X U-Joint Kit 1410/SPL36 Series (OSR) is compatible, and a better option than OEM
3. anything else recommend to replace while the drive shaft is out? I think I might have a bad pinion seal. but going to clean it up and look again in a few days. just put redline mtl in the diffs, but the oil stain was there the 6 months I've had the truck and hasn't gotten bigger (pic attached).
