Alright, I'm graduating from college in a month and I am seriously looking into buying a Raptor. I'v been lurking around the forum for a while for some answers, but I figured I'd just ask my own questions. Some are repeats so please bare with me...

How uncommon is it to find a Scab with out all the bells and whistles?

Do I really want a Scab, and what are the drawbacks? (I like the shorter wheelbase)

Are Scabs cramped in the back seat?

Do I really want a Raptor for that matter?

What will I end up paying out the door for a basic Scab?

If I have to "order" one from the dealer is it going to cost me extra?

Is dealer support good with Raptors?

Is there any drawbacks to having a raptor over a regular pickup?

Have you "accidentally" broken anything on yours?

What is expected MPG? (MY suburban already get 10mpg)

Is used the way to go?

5.4 or 6.2?

I'll be using it as a daily driver AND support vehicle in baja and in other remote areas. The only regular passenger in the back would be my dog. I would probably load a bike in the back once a week.

I know some of these are a little stupid, but I feel like yall will give me a more helpful answer than others. After all, If I ask my girlfriend she will tell me to buy a Kia.

I'll just tell you I love my SCAB! More than enough room in the back. There's no doubt there's a whole lot more room with a SCREW but it's not like the SCAB doesn't have room back there, just not as much. I average around 15 mpg but have been as high as 17-18 mpg and as low as 12 mpg on a hard off-road day. Not sure you'll buy a used SCAB for that much less than a new one. They really hold their value. You could buy a new no frills SCAB for around 40K. I bought mine for 46K but it had the 801A package, front and rear camera and beadlock wheels. You might fight a used 2010-11 for low to mid 30s with who knows how many miles or you could buy from one of the dealers that sell at invoice and buy a new 'bare bones' one for 40K and have it brand new. GL in your decision. It is one incredible truck no matter what kind you get. PERIOD!!!

And yes the SCAB only has a 26g tank (36g on the SCREW) which I have not found to be an issue at all. I do carry 10g of fuel when I'm out and about but haven't come close to needing it yet. The off-road mileage is not that much different than on the highway if you're just cruising at speed. It's not like you're going to get 8 mpg off-road. Although I'm sure there are some forum members
who try (and I guess you could drive hard enough to do that but at the SDBR, I had one hard day and I didn't go below 12 mpg). There are also vendors who make bigger tanks if that's ever an issue.

Well I'm pretty sure I'll end up buying one in a few months once my house sells. The responsible side of me is saying wait until I get settled into a job, but I need a new truck any way sooooooo.....

You axed about breakin shit... While I didnt' break anything, I did "redesign" the skid plate... Writeup:

http://www.fordraptorforum.com/f5/front-skid-plate-mod-repair-16461/

Amazing thing was that nothing actually broke. Get the truck but don't overextend your $$'s, put some aside for mods and repairs. If you buy a Raptor, get the effing thing dirty, that's what it was designed for. Don't overdo it, especially with the jumps, start with the easy stuff and work up. Pay no attention to the drunk ******** beside the trail egging you on to destroy your truck...they will usually ride home in their $800 beaters only to post your misfortune on YouTube, while your truck rides home on the flatbed all beat to hell.

I have one in my dealership. Black with black 2014. For sale. Still thinking about buying one?

It's a scientific fact that Raptor Owners get higher paying jobs than kia owners! Tell your girlfriend you read that on the internet so it must be true. And if you can afford it load it up.... nothing like cruisin Baja with A/C seats lookin at the front camera over a steep hill listening to some cool tunes!

So I see most all of the OP's questions were a answered but the one about dealer support. I'm curious on that one. I just got my truck a few months back. The dealer knows almost nothing about SVT vehicles. I got a lot of misinformation at purchase and now I'm wondering about service. They didn't even think the shocks were adjustable.

Any thoughts on dealer service and support?
