After searching and finding out that everyone stated you have to remove the headliner to get to the speaker cover I gave up on painting it black.

Accidentally today while trying to figure out how to remove the headliner to put sound treatment to my roof, this piece just popped out. There's no screw holding this in it's just clips. I will be painting my ugly ass headliner speaker covers ASAP.
There is no screw holding this from the inside of the headliner. Just regular old clips you can pull straight down.

Have you identified a good speaker upgrade for these? Mine distort like crazy at high volumes.
I am by no means an audiophile, but even I can hear the crappy axx sound coming out of those speakers.

I'm told don't bother upgrading stock speakers unless you go full system upgrade. So I don't plan on changing these speakers. But I do one day plan on sound treating the roof.

Rain drops sound like ball bearings hitting tin can.

You are correct there! I’ve owned convertibles that let less sound in than the roof on my 23! And the little slide shade is the most annoying noisemaker in the entire truck lol
