Yeah, I got bored today and decided I'd work on the truck instead of paperwork today.
While waiting for my front lights to get here - I put a rear light in a place that's pretty "sheltered". Haven't seen this one yet...

When using the rear camera, most flood style lights kill the image. I chose a 10 degree spot for mine and I can see pretty good backing up (photo is misleading).
Here's a few pics of the install.

In the dark... It's certainly not a light bar, but does illuminate far.

Apologies for all the Blackberry Cam pics - I'm getting lazy in my old age because it's so much easier to put images on facebook and then here.

Overall, I rank the VisionX Soltice Solo as an excellent product for the use I intend it for.

Very nice, and doesn't look like too much light for the back up camera.
I've seen some get washed out by too much light back there.

That was a great idea but for easy of use couldn't you build the mount out and use the regular 2" receiver hole? That way you could lock it in and you could take it off quickly to put something else there? Still without a doubt a great location for a light.

I admit, it is pretty much a permanent install, but loosening the two screws wont be too bad as I will never-seize them before installing. I don't trailer anything so I'm not too concerned about leaving it in most of the time.

As for the location, I have a tendancy to use the underside of the hitch as a 'depth gauge' while offroading... Modifying a receiver, thus making the truck potentially longer, wasn't on my mind as anything that sticks out of there typically gets smashed off :).

I wasn't very clear when I wrote that but keep the light where it is but build it in or back into the 2" to use the 1/2" whole that was already there. But if you don't plan on removing it then no need for sure.

Hi JP7,

This is a neat idea - with the dark nights, I have to back down the drive with my foot on the brake to get a bit more light to see the edges of the drive. I think this wired into the reverse light circuit would do the trick for me.

Since the pictures are missing, please could share an installed picture and a view of the camera image?

Cheers,
Mark

Yeah I don't know why all my FB pics disappear, but here's some of the install, and a link to a vid from Sunday's run.

Facebook pics still don't show up, but if you 'right click' on them it takes you to the image. Maybe I shouldn't be posting at 3am but I'm on vacation so to speak and this is the best I can do tonight. Hope it helps, as I really like this light setup.
