Rotating Tires

I hate (HATE) taking my truck/car into a shop for work I can do myself. I want to rotate the tires on the truck but the height has me a bit concerned. I've got a good jack and some stands.

Has anyone done this using jack stands? Got any tips?

question, do you work by the hour? unless you really enjoy and have the proper equipment, it never really makes any sense to do this yourself.

I would rather do it myself on my own schedule (at night, weekends, etc.) instead of skipping out of work early to have some guy scratch my truck and torque the wheels incorrectly...

I bought a tire warranty from Discount Tire and they rotate and balance every 5000 miles plus my tires are cover if I get a nail in the side wall that's not fixable they will replace the tire for free with pro rate. I want to say it cost me around $160 for the warranty for the life of those tires.

Yup. That would work. But my Discount Tire is always packed and I've not found a place yet that seems to understand a basic thing called a Torque Wrench.

So nobody has done this?

Discount/America's Tire and Les Schwaab will rotate for free even if you didn't
buy for them (ie factory tires).

My dealer insists I go in after a rotate at 500 miles to do a re torque. By inference, I'm assuming they know what a torque wrench is...
And the rotate is free with my full synth oil change - so I'm pretty much covered as long as I have them change the oil.

You should re-torque after 100 miles. 500 is way too long. I'm assuming you are covering any costs by paying them to change the oil.
