I came back from a little experimentation with the modes which I still am not sure Ive figured out and Im pretty sure my rear locker is not disengaging. The light goes on and off as its supposed to as well as the traction control and off road modes but the locker still seems to be engaged.

I looked under the truck for loose connections at the diff but I dont see anything apparent.

Anyone got any ideas?

Because Ive had locked vehicles before. ie Detroit locker.

When I pulled into the driveway, in reverse, while making a turn, the tire on the inside of the turn is chirping and leaving a rubber mark. It chirps going forward in a turn.

Im 99.9% positive its engaged.

I backed up, turned it on and off, turned the truck on and off with the switch on and off, did everything on and off and its still doing it/

The only thing I can think of I havnt tried is to go back out and whip some donuts and see if I can jar it loose but I dont know if thats the best plan.

That is probably not the best plan, but the most fun. I would do a few donuts and then head for the dealer.

So, after 3 WEEKS in the dealership. I got the truck back. It turns out that there was a broken part in the rear locker. However, even though I specifically mentioned the locker as the suspected problem when I first took it in, they didnt crack the rear diff and inspect it for 2 weeks.

It seems like they just plugged in a computer and went with what it said which was showing a screwy ABS sensor so they replaced that but the error code wouldnt go away (cuz it was caused by the locker).

So they thought the body control module was messed up so they ordered a new one of those. When that didnt make the ABS light go away they tried to blame the aftermarket auto start that I had installed, saying it was causing a short because the wiring was faulty. They fixed that and the ABS sensor was still saying it was messed up.

So after 2 weeks they finally checked the locker and what do you know?! Broken locker. 3 days later the part was in and the truck was fixed.

Well, I must say I am really disappointed in the dealership for how the tech handled the repair but they did loan me one of thier rental cars for free which held me back from going off because they dont have a loaner car program and I dont have rental insurance on it.

Im surprised at the breakage though because I really wasnt abusing the truck. I was sliding around in the dirt a little but I thought it would be able to withstand a whole lot more than what I was giving it. I guess we'll see how it all goes.

The good thing is I finally got that whole "hold the button for 5 sec to disable the traction control" thing to work so I was impressed with how the truck responded with that mode. As long as it doesnt break again, I think Im back to being elated with the truck.
