IF i had a gen 2 and had a hesitation problem (more and more threads popping up) i would drill the 1/16 hole in a second. Whats the worse case? If it doesn't work then drill and tap to 1/8 npt and put a plug in.. or buy a new oem ic, They are only $200.
Dealer is never going to find the hole because that aren't allowed to do "exploratory" work when the truck is in for other things. But a 2 hundred dollar swap out would be good insurance anyways.
As far as i understand the differences between the early eco boost and the raptor is the shutters...right? Nothing more. Talk about a bandaid. The ic is still down low where water will collect.
There are too many variables that an active shutter can account for.
Most people will never see this issue.. it kinda takes a "perfect storm" however everyone will have premature plug failure, interval is 100k? Not a chance, people doing at 20k, thats due to moisture eroding the gap.
Don't agree? What else would do it. I just changed my na plugs at 88k and all where within spec.
Some tuner piped in about never seeing this problem in all the turbo setups he has done (not sure it was this thread) and i agree, however, custom setups dont have to pass epa regs. On production, blow offs are closed system, which would be a good source to dispel water IF vented to the atmosphere...
Look at heneseys new veloci rap intercooler...blow off on the cold side down low. Hmmm
Water/**** injection? Yes but those systems are carefully metered and it is turned on when boost and timing levels are also turned (way) up. So if you have water going in the system without timing and/or boost going up (to a level that would normally detonate) then you are going to have a hesitation.
Boost leak? There is no (archaic) maf sensor on the newer eco boosts. There is a map in the manifold thats all. So all you are going to loose is a little boost, 10ths, with a needle you wouldn't notice a difference.

I'll drill the IC if my truck has hesitation issues. If something else breaks while the hole is in, I'll just swap out the ic before taking it in that way they can't blame it on that.

That's a good deal, but what if you break down on the road and have it towed? What about the oil that is blown out from these holes? Just asking. If I have issues I will let Ford figure it out it's on there dime for the next 8 years. 4700 miles and no issues so far. Humidity been in the 70 plus range over the last month. Just saying.

That is what I am trying to tell you - Ford has no fix for this. If you take it to them for the misfire, they have no idea how to fix it. The weep hole does the trick and keeps you, your passengers and other vehicles safe.

Now it's a safety issue? :ROFLJest:

It's pretty hard to imagine a person so pathetic they'd just sit on the internet for weeks (months?? years?) and spread misinformation about a truck they don't even own... yet here we are. :baby:
