Thanks All the Way, I used your thread to figure out where to poke through the firewall! I mounted my base unit behind the rear seat and still have a temporary mag mount run out through the baffle behind the rear seat. I will eventually do a more permanent mount for the detachable faceplate, but the stuff I used stood up surprisingly well to some rough offroading. This included whoops where we caught some air and some serious high speed bumps. I didn't think it would hold up, so I was happy with it. I barely finished my radio install the night before the run so I didn't have many options.

Looking at the box, its technically not Velcro. It's more like interlocking plastic that's kind of like the hook side of Velcro but on both sides. The back of the package says it hold 2 lbs per inch of material.

Proclip makes a mount that just clips there. I don't even use the adhesive it holds so well.

Edit: workin good the kids have been getting in and out with their backpacks for a while now with no interference.

Nice, Wilson. Since the kids did the install, you know it's done right the first time. Maybe since they mounted it there, it is really for their use while you drive them around town to soccer practice or the mall. :signs6:
