Mrs.FFS and I are very interested in making this get together. It will be a 1200 mile round trip drive for us so we would have to make it a long weekend event. I found out that there is an Air Force campgound at Fort Fisher where we (as DoD Civilians) can stay.

I'm gonna have to check into that. I wonder if Veterans/Disabled Veterans can camp too. But we usually stay at moms house when we go down. It is kind of nice that a trip to "Nanna's" house just happens to include the beach. Only down side is the length between visits. Either way, the day of the event we will be playing things by ear and would actually love to camp at least one night just to change things up and do something original during this beach trip.

I am new and just saw this thread. You guys should go to freeman park on the north side of Carolina Beach. You can camp, fish, drink and do whatever. They even have pizza delivery guys and ice cream trucks four wheeling non stop to deliver munchies! Its $20 bucks a day or a season pass for $100. I would plan on getting a hotel just over snows cut bridge they are 30% cheaper. If you do camp bring plenty of fresh water to bath.lol
