I know I just can't commit right now and would rather give the opportunity to someone else should I have to back out.

Since this is my first hosted run and only second run overall, I'm just looking for someone with run experience to assist me in keeping everyone together and make sure we don't leave anyone behind. I'll be lead and my chase will obviously be in back. So my main requirement would preferably be someone who has attended a few meets and is comfortable with that. This is not going to be a full-blown supported run but I'm trying to make it as comfortable for everyone as possible so all they have to worry about is driving. Everyone needs a radio so we can communicate.

I have a cheap handheld Wouxun that I used for SDBR and it was fine. ICOM is a common radio used by many. I think a handheld will be fine for this run. If you want a more powerful one you mount inside and use an outside antenna, you can go, that way. Treypal may have radios preprogrammed and ready for use. Just ask around what others are using. Just make sure it can handle our standard frequencies shown on the first post.

Given the trouble some had at ARDD hearing and talking using the hand helds I recommend a mobile. I use an Icom F5021 and it works great..

EDIT: Then again it always depends on terrain.

I used a handheld Wouxun KG-UV6D at SDBR and it was just fine. I personally didn't want to deal with mounting or an outside antenna. I had no issues. Either should be fine for this run but yes a mobile will definitely have better range. So if you're going to do a lot of runs, it's probably the way to go. I just want to make sure everyone has a radio that handles our normal frequencies as listed in the first post.
