Don't know if this was an old issue or not, but I never once had any distortion from my TYT during the WI/UP run.
Also, not too familiar with the channel scan that you guys are describing, but the TYT mic has the channel buttons on the top that you can change channels on the fly. However, I locked the mic buttons out, as I would grab the mic and flip a channel.
Didn't know that. Either way, I was very impressed with the setup/range.
You wont hear it because your transmitting with a TYT, on the other end it comes garbled.
We have researched the TYT does not have the scan function.
For icom i can program for example.
GLRE1
GLRE2
GLRE3
TRR1
TRR2
it will constantly scan those frequencies, when someone transmits on those, it will lock and hold for 10 seconds after the end of their transmission giving you the opportunity to transmit back right away. I can also default any one of those channels as my main communication channel. So if i key the mic it transmits on the default, say GLRE1. once i finish transmitting it will go back to the autoscan.
We have done this on SDBR and ARDD and other local runs. That way the support trucks can communicate uninterrupted or transmit things that don't need to be broadcast to the group.
