The Whelen lights come in a nice small package that packs a large punch!
The 12 LED’s are housed in a black powder-coated, cast aluminum housing. The provided mounting hardware is stainless. The lights also come with 6' of wire. These things are completely MADE IN THE USA and are of the best quality. Working with WSI, he was able to create a mounting bracket that fits snuggly into the front of the bumper and does not interfere with the Outlaw winch mounting plate. I wanted to be able to flank the winch with these lights. If you guys don’t have the winch mounting plate, you would be able to mount 4 lights on this bracket. The bracket uses existing bolts in the bumper, therefore, no drilling required. The WSI mounting bracket is made from gage 10 steel and is nice and beefy.
The lights tuck into the bumper opening like they were made for it. I wired the lights into aux switch 1 (aka death ray 1). When first trying them out, I had my Ducati Retrofit lights turned on, then I hit death ray 1, WOW. I couldn’t even tell that I had my head lights on and for anyone that has the retrofits, you know this has to be bright to drown out those HIDs.
I have not had a chance to use these off road yet, but will this weekend at the Little Sahara desert run. I’m really looking forward to it. The only time I’ve used them has been slow cruisin’ through the neighborhood to which I’m sure my unexpecting neighbors were not too pleased…
Yes, they carry a stout price, but for the quality, the 3800 lumens and the USA made and assembled product, are well worth it in my book.
