Like Todd said you could get a MUR's radio or your could get a radio from Treypal.

The Snoball trucks will have radios from treypal broadcasting on MUR's freq's

So, if I have a Motorola talkabout, will that work for what you guys are setting up? I'm thinking not...

Sorry, I'm clueless when it comes to the radios.

No worries Joe.

No, it will not work. The TalkAbouts work on the Family Radio Service which are in a different freq range. If you don't want to buy a new radio, what we can do is I can monitor both a MURS freq and a FRS freq that you'll be on. If you need to stop, you hit me up on the Talkabout and I'll relay to the rest of the group. We can make it work for sure!

It more than likely isn't going to work. If you plan on doing the TRR again I would get a radio from Trey. Its like $150 shipped

I got a cb im low tech. I gotta hit up rpg maybe they can bring me some fenders and tie rod to snoball ahhh!!!

I beleive the RPG truck is being shipped which means I highly doubt they can load up fenders when it goes on the shipping truck. Maybe tie rods but thats between you and RPG.

If we do go.. We have frs/gmrs hand held radios and icom f5201 vhf radio in the truck.

The FRS radios won't work the but the ICOM will. My radio is in the 144-173 band. FRS is in the 400's.

Thanks for the quick input.
I'm ok with buying a radio, I just want to know that it will work for future runs. In fact, I was going to buy two, so if in ever out with my friends and they don't have one, I can give them one.

So the moauoxa 6 ( or what ever it's called) would work different bands? Looks like I got some reading to do.

Joe,

The Wouxun should work for you.

Wouxun KG-UV6X Dual Band VHF/UHF 200 Channel Handheld Commercial Radio [KG-UV6X] - $174.99

It's advertized as a commercial radio that can work in the frequency range that MURS runs in, and would work for the frequencies that Trey has referenced for desert racing.

If I were to buy this, I would pick up the remote speaker/mic for it. It allows the radio to be hung from the ceiling of the truck somewhere, but you can just clip the speaker/mic to your visor withing easy reach. I do that with my radios. Makes it easier than grabbing the body. Plus an new incoming transmissions will be right near your face, rather than sitting in your cup holder. Just my 2 cents.
