Range is my main hang up. Plus unless your mounted to the roof, it will vary where your deadzone will be.

Oh, and Jason, I will bring you some ribs up. Oklahoma Joes ok?

Awesome, thank you very much!!

Sure I don't think I ever had them from Oklahoma Joes. I lived in Warrensburg and would eat Perry Foster's. Also tried about a dozen differnt places in the greater KC area but I can't remember the names of any of them.

What about CB radios? You can get them in handheld or make quick mount for them in the truck

CB is also a totally different Freq than VHF. I think there are a couple radios that will do both but you have to have two different antenna. VHF is the way to go for our applications.

Part of me wants a truck mounted VHF but the fact that you can walk around and still talk might be key to this trip. As I could stop the truck get out and still point out hazards and stuff.

Yes, they are different frequencies, I have used CBs for years on my offroad trips without too many issues. Up to 20 trucks spread out on Drummond. But doesn't matter to me what radios we use

I like Trey's idea of the hand held radio, but in reading about them they are for commercial use and require an FCC license.

i have no idea what 2 ways work off, but the benefit of a radio like What Treys hooking us up with, is that we can use different channels to speak to one another as opposed to having a whole bunch of chatter. but im pretty sure what a 2-way works off of is a locked channel
