I still believe that the Raptor may never get a V8 again. So Ford is planning on replacing the 5.0 with a 4.8. Its just that, a replacement. If the 4.8 is a great option for the Raptor, why didn't the put the 5.0 in it? I don't see them moving back to a V8 since they have made it very clear that the EB V6 is the top engine choice for F150. That is why they charge a premium for it in a standard F150. If you start using the standard engine as the engine for your top tier truck, people will start to wonder why they should spring for the Ecoboost in their standard F150. I'm not saying that a supercharged or turbocharged V8 couldn't be as capable and efficient as the Ecoboost V6. I'm saying that it is a marketing pitfall and I cant see Ford risking it. How can you have all of these commercials telling you that the Ecoboost is "the best truck engine you can get"and then come along and say, "Here is the Raptor, 'the best truck you can get', without 'the best engine you can get'." Like it or not unless they market the new 4.8 as being better than the Ecoboost and charge a premium for it, it probably won't make it into the Raptor.
