Windshield Chips

Got my first chips in the windshield the other day. They're very small - like slightly larger than a pin head small - and there are two right next to each other. Is it worth getting fixed or are chips of that size less likely to be a problem? I ask because I had a chip in my last vehicle which eventually caused the windshield to crack in half while at a car wash. The chip in that windshield was a lot deeper.

Also, my dad recently called to have a chip fixed on his truck which was similar in size and the repairman told him it was so small he would have to bore it out and then fill it. I've never heard of that before....but would it still be worth it to get them fixed that way?

talk with your insurance company. some companies will pay to fix your windshield because if the chip becomes a crack it is more expensive for them to replace

AAA will take care of it...mostly just wondering if chips that size are worth fixing, especially if they have to be bored out.

thats something you should probably check with at the company who is going to fix it. but if you got a pic, i might be able to tell

If it has any legs starting at all even very tiny ones fix it.

Also check depth. If it really is as small as it sounds, it may be shallow and more of a knick or something. Not sure if that makes sense, but those won't crack. I would just contact a company and have them look at it and get their advise.

This ^. my policy with state farm will actually cover the replacement of the windshield with no deductible if damage is in your direct line of sight.

i already got a crack in my week and half old windshield from a tiny rock chip. it was a small one just under the wiper i didn't notice and with this cold weather it is a crack already. get it fixed.

I got a chip from a jeep on the freeway. Safelight fixed it, insurance covered everything.
