Never heard anyone else do this. No doubt I'm not breaking the mold here. Seemed like a common sense choice.

I use rubbing alcohol now and then on windows (any side of a window that does not have tint on it)

Especially for the inside/outside of the windshield. Dries perfectly and removes any haze on the inside.

I've tried it before. I had trouble with streaking. For dirty windshields, I do use alcohol as a pre-cleaner follow by Invisible Glass and news paper. The news print's black ink polishes the glass and leaves a glaze that doesn't hold dust as much. For the outside of the windshield, you can remove acid rain damage with aluminum cleaner (an acid) and OOOO steel wool. it works very well. Doesn't scratch.

I use alcohol only when prepping for glass sealant. I like wolfs sealant available at obsessedgarage.com.
