Why I patiently accept any delay in receiving my 2017 Raptor

Back in 2010, I placed an order at my dealer and within 3 months received one of the first '11/6.2 raptors. I remember taking a picture of it at night in the snow for an upload, as no one believed I had taken delivery of a 2011 unit. Well it slipped out of the factory with a bad BCM module, and then had a PCM failure to boot, spending more than 30 of its first 60 days in the shop awaiting parts.

In the end, my experience with the Raptor made me a bigger fan of Ford products. The dealership and Ford bent over backwards to make things right. The vehicle has almost 200,000 mikes on it now. It's well maintained and It's never let me down since the above issues were resolved.

It sucks to wait on a new toy, but I am more than happy to be patient and receive my '17 after Ford has determined that it is in fact "OK to Buy". I'm hoping they arrive soon, and we get lots of positive threads from proud new owners. No doubt that Ford's delay is for the best, ensuring that the Gen II truck is released when they know that it is solid.

Delco . . .
In the end, I don't care how long it takes. I worry that we are going to have a massive snow storm that would be unworkable in my focus, but not even an issue for this truck.

There is no reason to believe that waiting will reduce problems. Ford testers aren't out in mules doing some extra shakedown, but rather trying to tread water on what was advertised to you and me. We are all taking a small risk buying first model year. Love your attitude though. I wish my vehicles could be as trouble free as yours.

Actually, If you review the defective BCM incident w/ the early 2011's (see my history), the delayed release is exactly what kept the problem minimized. Ford started to rush out the 2011 Raptor and more than a few got out of the factory with the defective BCM units installed. I received my unit ~ Dec 8th while most everyone else was still waiting. Fortunately, those 6.2 Raptors that didn't get prematurely released were rechecked and units found with the bad BCM's were corrected before they shipped.

I have no idea what the current hold-up is, but I can tell you from personal experience, the pre-delivery wait for my 2017 is much preferred to the service bay wait I had with my 2011.

I am unfamiliar with the BDM incident. Sounds like basically an early recall, which is better than late (with clear and prompt communication from Ford I hope).

You are saying you don't mind waiting for a fix of known problems.
I am saying I do mind, because currently unknown problems will cause trouble regardless of release schedule.
A matter of perspective I guess ;)

I don't have a problem waiting fro this truck at all!

I do have a problem with Ford not telling us anything, if the truck is going to be built in March? Just tell us!! Communication goes a long way.

Here here, communication does go a long way. As a prospective owner I don't mind waiting. Just tell me what the problem is, tell me what the fix will be and an anticipated time to have the problem resolved. I am a reasonable individual, not a mushroom.
