Stealth1, When did the first LT Headers Roush come out? I'm just curious now.

Listen, don't take this the wrong way, I really don't care who came out first, it doesn't matter to me.
I'll most likely will stick with my stock exhaust. Unless someone throws money at me. :)
I still to this day, can't justify $4,500 to $6,000 (Shop installed of course) for a complete exhaust just for 30 to 40 more ponies.

I do know, Lethal performance had their Whippled Raptor with LT Headers running in April of 2012 with the help of Jon Lund.
The Whipple/Ford LT Tune came out 2 months later.

I guess I can chime in from experience now! I added my whipple a few months ago and love it. My reason for doing so was the fun factor. I am on road 95% of the time. I had the chance to drive a local buddies raptor with the Roush stage 2 setup and afterwards I was sold. But as with anything after adding my whipple, I wanted more more more.

This is what I caution people about now that are thinking of SC. BE CAREFUL OF THE NEED FOR MORE POWER! I will say, I did start off with the standard CAI, Tune, Exhaust and it was fine. But, it is nothing compared to the whipple and other mods I have done. Damn they are fun but pricey.

To the OP, do as you feel. I like to push things a bit. Opinions are great to a degree. If you can afford to do it, do it. If the budget is tight then don't. Money was the main reason none of my past vehicles were sc. I am in a tiny bit better position today (10 years later). For now I can say, " I was able to sc one vehicle in my lifetime." It has been worth the wait. :happy107:

Just to add more fuel to the dissuasion, add 37's & 5.13 gears to a sc lol !!!!! It is ******* AWESOME!! Is it over kill? YES, but so is the RAPTOR. Excessiveness is in its DNA.

Good luck bro. I love this thread.

Who's Next to chime in??

From the git go I've wanted to go SC. My thought in going that route is to keep HW/Street performance on par with stock as I add weight down the road with heavier bumpers, bed rack and spares, etc. It will help with pulling a trailer as well. Plus, strong acceleration is simply FUN.
Almost pulled the trigger on a Roush the week of delivery, but after doing more research on here I'm planning to go Whipple.
Nothing wrong with it stock, and I have since thought about not doing the SC, but then I'd end up keeping everything else stock. Where's the fun in that? :)

I've been running a full set of Stainlessworks LTs and exhaust since the blower install back in the beginning of April '12 back when Torq and those other shops were having issues with LTS and their whipple setups. Cody at Stang-Hi did the tunes and actually if I remember correctly helped out some other shops with their Whipple setup as well. C'mon.. Mike.. it's the sound that counts...well to me its the icing on the cake. Pull the trigger.. No worries on taking it the wrong way, I think I had shot you some emails back then when we talked about our kits also and what I had done at the beginning.

LOL, hey I'm getting old I can't remember everything.
That's why I threw the question at you.

The setup of the exhaust I talked over with ARH is expensive for the way I want it. (True dual out the back with all 3 1/2" pipe and extra resonators)
And "overtime" is lacking this year, haven't been able to put any funds in my Raptor build.
Still waiting on Deavers custom rear springs and Axle Exchange driveshaft to be installed at KHC.
That's were I put my money this year.

Cody does amazing tuning work. He's tuned all of my vehicles. Even had my Cobra towed from Spring down to his shop when the fuel pump wires melted. Almost hydrolocked my motor from when the dealer kept trying to start the engine and kept pumping fuel into the cylinders.

The reason I don't want a blower on a Raptor is you have one drive belt for everything... but the risk of shredding a belt at full throttle or when you're out in the dirt miles from a dealership or auto parts store that has the belt isn't something that is appealing to me. Yes, you can carry a spare, but if you shred one, there is probably an underlying issue that caused it and you'll just end up shredding the spare as well.

This is an excellent point - when I got my suburban whippled at Stillen I had this exact issue - 1 drive belt and not a typical auto store part, so your local auto parts store could not help you! I was on I-40 halfway between Needles and Barstow about 1:30 a.m. when mine shredded. Turned out the pully alignment was not correct on the install. Got it fixed but had to be towed to Barstow, then to Stillen - boat was in tow, so a long night and day that followed.

After that I always carried a spare belt (as I do in my wife's Sequoia). Put 100k on the burb after that but never had another belt issue. But if you are in the outback - you need to have a spare, as most likely the belt you have is unique to your truck/supercharger set up and a special order part.

Don't want to be looking for one when you need one - you want to have one under the back seat. You will be happy you spent the $40 to get a spare. If your buddy shreds his he will happily give you $100 for it when its needed!

For me, I chose not to supercharge.
Part of that decision was influenced by the forced induction cars I've had. They were very healthy (700 + rwhp at 3000 pounds wet weight).
My idea of fast on road was skewed a bit by this, a supercharged raptor is slow on road compared to any cars I've owned, or most cars around here in oil country. So why bother.

To achieve more speed offroad, that blower money is far better spent on suspension. And once you've upgraded the suspension you realize that you're still not approaching the point where you need more power to go faster in the dirt... but even more suspension mods certainly would make you faster yet.
You don't need tons of power if you don't need to slow down for anything :ROFLJest:
