Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but the Fox's do as well.

Again correct me if I'm wrong but this is true industry wide. The number of the shock is the external diameter and does not relate to the piston size at all.

Icon 3.0 for sure has a 3" piston and quite sure King does as well, but the 3.0 fox does not, it has the 2.5.

Yeah, that's why the Fox's are deceiving! They should have named them the 2.5's... everybody else's is named after the internal dimension.

Also, the Icon's internal bump design is NOT the same as the other brands. It's a true hydraulic internal bump the last 3" of travel, with resistance increasing from hundreds of pounds in the ride zone, to THOUSANDS of pounds of resistance in the bump zone.

Very cool technology, and it works really well. I've yet to bottom out my front end, even on the "Softest" setting, and literally hitting huge ledges head on at speed (55MPH) on accident on one occasion!

Matt and I had the opportunity to tour the Icon facility last Friday and we spent a couple of hours speaking with Brad and Dylan. They took the time to show us all aspects of their in house testing, design and manufacturing. Prior to the tour, I had an idea of how the internal bump worked. However, it was great to hold it as Dylan explained in detail how it works. Icon is spending a huge amount of time, designing and testing to try and produce the best Raptor shock on the market. (IMO) The Raptor is not a race truck and Icon is incorporating innovative ideas that work very well with the limited travel our trucks have. If you are looking for shocks, take a look at these. I see a change in my future from the Kings.

What makes the Icon's so much better than the Kings?
They incorporate a lot of design features that make the shock ride incredible well on the street, while also performing incredible off road. The front shocks in particular really blow me away! You simply CAN NOT bottom these babies out, causing the old skid plate smash that I was so accustom to with my stock shocks, or even a few trucks I've been in with Fox's or Kings... The internal hydraulic bump really works well, it's amazing. They're easier to adjust... they're SILENT (you don't hear the bypass valves).

On top of that, their customer service has been above and beyond anything you will EVER get from King... and that is an undisputed fact. The guys are active on the forums, answer any questions you have, and respond to customer issues and complaints immediately.

Just my opinion... although keep in mind I've been around Raptors that are without a doubt being used and abused harder than any others, and spent seat time in each setup.

I agree with BlueSti on Icons customer service. Ordered a set of Icons and one had an accident in shipping. Brad from Icon has been very helpful getting it taken care of for me. I put the rear shocks on my truck in the meantime and just those alone have made a big difference in how my truck performs in the rough stuff.
