Update: Dealer replaced the cowl trim, it fits far better and looks better (so far anyway) than the one that was defective. Corners aren't peeling up, color is consistent and all the rubber lays flat. (they also replaced my tailgate applique because it was loose and flapping around on driver side, and replaced the top rail trim of the tailgate since the c clamp holes were stuck / broken).
