Big News!!!

Whipple is now supporting Long Tube Headers for non emission states

The tune is done, works great, all the safety settings are still intact, closed loop is still on,
a new model was built for the predictive system based on the SW LT's and other changes and updates.

Whipple will update any current Complete Whipple kit (free within 1 year of purchase of kit) that has any issues.
Anyone who purchases new, must state that they have LT, anybody that purchased for stock, and later added LT's, needs to pay for an update.

This is Whipple's thread, but I ask if I could post this for now.

Has anyone run their short and long term fuel trims? I know MTF has but anyone else? My long term on bank one runs about 10.9 sometimes a little higher with bank 2 about 5.0, i am not throwing any codes though.

I have several calls in to Mike at Whipple, guess he is busy, i wanted to order another pulley. Jeff at whipple has said that he thinks that my fuel trims are ok, but i am still concerned. I am taking the truck to my friends shop and putting it on the dyno on Tuesday.

First is that + or -

I was told that if your running the the 60s injectors the long is going to be like that.
Actually you are doing better than me I'm at -15 to -18 and that is with the 3.500 pulley.
The 3.675 pulley and the first Tune I was at -25 and a little above sometimes. so I was throwing a "too rich" code in both banks.

The most important is short, when you go full throttle you want it to be as close to 0 as possible without going into the + because that would mean it's going to lean.

I have also notice when playing with the Actron Plus Scanner if I keep on playing with the throttle in park I am all over the place with the fuel TRMS.
Both banks are rarely the exact numbers, I think that's the nature of the O2 sensors placement in the exhaust.
Now if it was off by a great deal then I would get concerned.

MTF, i am running on the lean side.

When i spoke with Jeff at Whipple he said that they are playing with the long tube header tune but to his knowledge the do not have anything yet.

Yes, I remember now.

The TRMS I have posted are at sea level and 88 dgrees out. I was told this will get a little leaner when it starts getting colder.
I will confirm this as this will be my first winter coming up with my truck being SC.

Did you ever get an answer if 10 on the Long TRMS was too lean from Whipple and could do any damage?

I know it doesn't get that hot where you are. LOL
Maybe that is normal TRMS for the temp (just guessing)

My whipple is on order for my 2013. The whipple will be here before the truck. I talked to whipple today and they said I do not need the upgraded heat exchanger but think I might get it anyways, can't hurt!!! Anyways they told me a month or two before the tune for long tubes will be released. I intend to instal the American racing 1 7/8" long tubes with cats and a borla cat back which I have all this already. Parts are stacking up and still waiting for a date on the production of the truck. I hope they have a tune that will support the headers by the time I put the truck on the road!!!!!!

You do want to upgrade the heat exchanger, but dont waste money on the $400 whipple upgrade.

For same money you can get:

1. Meziere 20gpm water pump + fittings .... $250
2. CRX ebay single or double pass heat exchanger ..... $150 (pretty much same core Whipple charges $400 for)
3. (2x) ebay 7" radiator fans ...... $50
4. Misc relays and fuses ..... $100
Total ........................... $550

Twin screw and roots superchargers love to get heat soaked and overwhelm the modest intercooling systems that come stock.

The stock Bosch water pump is rated at 5gpm "free flowing", but only flows 1gpm in real life when plumbed into the system. Go pour out a 1 gallon jug over 60 seconds and you will see how slow the water is pumping through your intercooler. The Meziere pump is rated at 20gpm and flows about 5gpm when plumbed into the system. This greatly improves intercooler efficiency.

The Whipple is supposed to get in next week. The heat exchanger, fans and pump are in the Brown Truck on their way here now.

I will be installing it myself so I will post a "how to" install thread in this section and give everyone a step by step instructions. Shouldn't be too hard, just an intake manifold swap basically and thats as easy as it gets for engine work.

The meziere pump should swap right out, though you would probably want to upgrade the wiring and fuse going to it. This is a common mod for the Cobra guys trying to battle heat soak at 18psi. The pumps are very similar in size and shape.

I have posted some pictures of the Whipple Pump system.
When you get a chance take a look and see if you can simple swap just the pump out. and keep everything else. Thank you.
