whipple vs Roush I know 100 times

How much of a PITA/cost was it to install that oil pump gear?

Of course it's cheaper than a new engine, but curious on install cost.

Edit: think I found my answer in the JDM thread. 8-10 hours w/o SC, or 2 days with SC. Wow

I read that same post. 8-10 hours is a long damn time I should of became a ford mechanic to bad I have zero patients and would brake more stuff than I could fix,lol

Yea, right?

Dunno if that's something I would want to tackle myself. I enjoy working on my trucks, but dang lol.

Guess I'll truly worry about it once I order the blower.

I was in the exact same boat as you. After a bunch of research I went with the Roush. I'm sure some will argue, but the reality seems to be that unless you want to start getting above that 650HP range - which means upgrading internals of the motor, the Roush is the way to go.

Yes, the Whipple can generate more power, but are you going to do all the motor work? I wasn't going to.

Also, the Roush is a lot more quiet.

Just my 2 cents.
The roush blower is actually an Eaton blower in the roush housing pretty sure once intake pulley tune is involved it will be much louder then the Whipple

Its an Eaton TVS not the old roots blower so not that loud and much more efficient than the old eaton roots blowers

The TVS is still a roots type it's not a twin screw like the whipple

The TVS while still a roots when you compare them to a TS the Compressor Map is what really dictates which you should go with. And that is based on what RPM you are spinning it at, the engine you have it on and where you are using it.

The TVS on the 6.2 is plenty for a stock engine, Now if you are planning to up the boost and/or doing mods to the engine for better flow/higher rpm then you will be getting to the point that the Compressor Map on the TVS compared to the TS will show the TS being much more efficient.

As for whine unless you are planning to push the TVS to where its efficiency is taking a crap the TS will be louder. Whipple's are loud but a good kind of loud. On Cobra's and GT500's it was a no brainer to go with a Whipple from the fact that the shortblock could handle the added boost and RMP. You really need to change out the pistons and rods on the 6.2L for the whipple to really shine on the raptor. (Plus change the Drive Shaft and Upgrade the tranny if you really want to use the power)

Well, I have it - with the upgraded pulley and throttle body. I can tell you it isn't that loud. I mean, it sure spools up when you get on it, and you can hear it in general. But, it isn't very loud. The Whipple is louder.

I know a guy with the stage 2 whipple, and a guy with the stage 2 roush.
On paper the whipple should have the advantage, but in reality the opposite is true. The roush comes on lower, and is just faster overall.
As has been mentioned, unless you go to forged internals and up the blower rpm enough to push the roush out of it's efficiency range, it's the better choice.
That one bolt on the throttle body is a real bitch with the roush though, lol !

Are you sure the Whipple Stage 2 your guy has is the Optional 700+ HP Stage 2 with the 68mm TB, 60 lbs. injectors and the 3.25 pulley?
No internals upgrading needed, but I advise the oil pump gear upgrade.
There are different options for the Whipple Stage 2 even all the way down two 650 HP Stage 2.
