You should never need the main fans on at 80mph , Never had a issue until i installed the larger whipple heat exchanger. Since then 4 years ago i had force my main fans to 100% every summer . Once air temps drop back to the 80s i switch back over to ECM controlling the fans , takes about 5 min to swap plugs around. Fans on with a/c maxed and 120 degrees out is a ton of load on Alternator, yes my temps stay in check with Fans at 100% . But from a reliability point now if i have a fan failure , i'm screwed in the desert with 120deg out , and no matter how fast i go i will overheat . I'm reverting back to smaller exchanger with two 9 inch SPAL fans . Plus the Ron Davis radiator so i can drive 50+ mph with out the main fans on and temps stay in check.
This is a Arizona environment situation . You will not have issues in northern climates.

I'm checking into larger radiator options... That would suck if your fans went out, that happened to me in my Ford Edge, fan went out, overheated and wouldn't drive more than 10 minutes after letting it cool down.

we removed the motor mount and trans cross, jack up front of motor to fit them in.

If you get the fan adjustment in the Tune the fans won't be running all the time they will turn on and off to the temp settings.
They may run slightly longer then stock settings, it's not going to burn the fans out.
And they wouldn't be running when doing 80 mph on the highway unless your towing with the AC on up an incline and it's 100 degrees out.

A little tip if you don't know already but get the header bolt retaining clips so the bolts don't get loose on you.

I agree on the Ron Davis radiator being a piece of art. I got mine installed over a month ago. I love it! It is a very tight fit when you do the install given how much bigger the radiator is over the stock radiator. Well worth the money if you ask me.

Thanks for the feedback on the Radiator.


Started putting the kit together, few fun shots.
The Whipple kit is well put together and has very good instructions. 198 steps, not including the exhaust. got into the 30's :)

Dalamar looks like they redesigned the brackets for heat exchanger better air flow as well as new coolant tank and pump on yours . First pic is like what i have on truck now, see all the air flow blockage from side brackets . 2nd pic is what i'm going back to with small fans on backside

Nice, I started working on mine in my spare time a couple weeks ago, got my kooks headers and exhaust installed, I was torn because I've used American Racing Headers in the past and they're down the road from me, but I liked the true dual and rear exit setup from kooks. I started on the supercharger and oil pump gear install today, got as far as the stock intake manifold removed. That got me a lot more space to work in, now to work towards the oil pump

I do see that, the side support brackets are different. will post up a pic here shortly.
