Which Lowrance would you go with??

Hello all!! Finally getting around to do a proper build. Currently have a Lowrance 5. I’ve lost signal a few times and had to wing it on the trail. Not good lol.

I can sell it for about $200 then reinvest that money into a touch HDS7. Or I can add the point 1 Baja antenna.

What would you guys do??

I’m sticking with my icom vhf 5021. Easy install. Super clean. Check out my build thread. If you’ve got basic tools and a little confidence, you can install it yourself.

Defiantly would add the external antenna to any unit you decide to get!

I run a Baja 5 with the external antenna and have never lost signal, highly recommend you stick with the 5 and add the LGC 16W antenna for $65 and go from there..

Unless money is no object then get a new HDS color with external antenna.

I'm not saying money is no object. Just saying that I want this build to last me a while and I wanna be happy with it.

What's the difference between the 60watt antenna and the Point 1 Baja?

Pretty sure they’re the same, so price would be the only difference. They released the 16w (that’s the part number, the w does not mean watt) after the point one (which was out of my price range).

My baja 5m came with the 16w, which is exactly the same as the point 1.

Good to know. I decided to just stick with my 5 elite. Just gonna get the 16w tomorrow.

16 w is an antenna only the point 1 is antenna , and compass ,+ fast refresh rate. HDS9 carbon on my rig
