I see many ppl here would rather run 17" wheels over 18". The only reason i can see this as a convenience, is to fit 37s into the wheel wells more comfortably without issues, or are there any other reasons as why?

Smaller wheel equals more sidewall on your tires. Sidewall equals better suspension for off road. Race trucks run large tires on smaller diameter wheels.

More sidewall is especially more important when airing down. 18s will still be fine running off-road, people are running them with no issues. The other factor is cost, 17" rims and tires for 17" are always cheaper than 18 (of same type).

As mentioned, cheaper, more sidewall is generally better off road.

Also don't forget it's a lot easier to find a spare 17 in a pinch if you need a tire and are out in the middle of nowhere.

I am constantly debating this with myself. 18's look better and you're only losing 1/4" of sidewall.

But if you start looking at tires, availability in 18 is severely limited and usually $100-200 more expensive.

I don't understand everyone's fascination with those tires, i hated them on my f250

So if I'm looking at new tires, why would I consider 17" methods over my stock wheels? Besides looks.
